Marcus rushed into the living room with rapid footsteps across the tile floor.
Father: What are you doing right now?!
Victoria spun around quickly, her face pale with sudden surprise and shock.
Stepmother: Marcus! You were supposed to be at your morning meeting!
Father: Step away from my daughter this immediate second!
Lily cried out and ran directly behind her father's tall frame.
Marcus put a firm protective hand behind his daughter's shaking shoulder.
Stepmother: You don't understand what she did, Marcus!
Father: There is no excuse for cornering a child like that!
Stepmother: The small wooden box from your private safe is missing!
Father: That box contains the legal deed to this home and estate!
Stepmother: Exactly, and she hid it so I wouldn't find it!
Father: Why were you looking inside my private legal safe anyway?
Victoria gasped softly and took a slow step backward toward the fireplace.
Stepmother: You promised me full equal access to the family assets!
Father: I promised to care for you, not hand over my daughter's future!
Stepmother: I am your wife, I deserve to be protected too!
Father: You are acting completely out of line in my home!
Marcus reached for his phone inside his dark jacket pocket.
Stepmother: What are you doing with your phone right now?
Father: I am calling emergency services to report this harassment!
Stepmother: You cannot call the authorities on your own family!
Father: You crossed a line the moment you terrified my daughter!
Lily wiped the tears from her red cheeks with her small sleeves.
Lily: She wanted to take my mother's old letters, Daddy.
Marcus turned his gaze back to Victoria with intense stern anger.
Father: Is that true, Victoria?
Victoria clenched her hands into tight fists by her side in silence.
She stepped closer, trying to reach out toward Marcus's arm.
Marcus raised his hand firmly, stopping her dead in her tracks.
Father: Do not come any closer to us right now.
