Arthur Vance: There is one final item David specifically instructed me to deliver directly into your hands, Maya.
Arthur set a small, antique wooden box crafted from polished walnut onto the center of the conference table.
Maya: Dad made this box in his basement workshop when I was seven years old. He carved the oak leaf on the lid.
Arthur Vance: Open it, Maya. It belongs to you now.
Maya reached out with shaking hands and lifted the small silver latch on the front of the walnut box.
Resting inside on a bed of blue velvet was her grandmother's silver locket, alongside a thick folded letter written in her father's unmistakable handwriting.
Maya: It's here. She told me she threw this in the trash two years ago.
Arthur Vance: Read the letter aloud, Maya. David wanted you to hear his words in this exact boardroom.
Maya unfolded the heavy cream paper, her eyes blurring with warm tears as she recognized the ink strokes.
Maya: "My dearest Maya. If you are reading this letter, Arthur has finally unlocked the safe and righted every wrong done in my absence."
She swallowed hard, pressing a hand against her throat as her voice gained strength.
Maya: "I know how hard Victoria tried to erase your mother's memory and push you away from the dream we built together. Forgive me for being too weak to fight her during those final hospital months."
Julian stepped closer to the table, listening quietly with his head lowered in reverence.
Maya: "The company is yours, my daughter. Lead it with fairness, protect every worker on that factory floor, and never let greed turn your heart into stone. You were always my greatest pride. Love, Dad."
Maya pressed the letter against her chest, letting the tears fall freely onto her thrift-store sweater as she clutched the silver locket tightly in her palm.
Arthur Vance: The entire executive staff and the floor managers have gathered downstairs in the main auditorium, Miss Sterling. They are waiting for their new chief executive officer.
Maya wiped her cheeks with a tissue, straightened her jacket, and looked around the massive boardroom that had once intimidated her so deeply.
Maya: Let's not keep them waiting, Arthur.
Arthur Vance: Lead the way, Maya.
Maya turned toward the boardroom exit, the heavy brass doors held open wide as she walked forward with her father's locket clasped securely in her hand.
