Julian: You're bluffing! My lawyers verified every document submitted to the court!
Margarethe: Then why is your name listed as sole beneficiary on a trust document dated three days AFTER my father went into a coma?
Julian’s face went pale under the harsh basement lights. He took an uneasy step backward, glancing at his security guards, who were already stepping away from him.
Julian: That... that was a corporate update clause approved by the board!
Margarethe: A dead man can't approve an update clause, Julian! And my father's doctor already testified on record about his mental capacity that week!
Carter: Head for the car, Miss Vance. I'll make sure Mr. Julian doesn't follow us up the stairs.
Margarethe clutched the blue leather binder tightly against her chest, rushing up the stairs and stepping out into the pouring rain. The driveway was filled with flashing red and blue lights as two Dallas police cruisers pulled up alongside the stone fountain.
Sheriff Miller: Miss Vance! We received a call about a disturbance on the property!
Margarethe: Sheriff Miller, I’m glad you’re here. I need to report a massive corporate theft and forgery involving the Vance estate trust fund!
Julian ran out of the guest house door, soaking wet and waving his paper wildly in the air.
Julian: Arrest her, Sheriff! She broke into a secure vault and stole proprietary corporate documents!
Sheriff Miller: Settle down, Julian. We’re going to look at everything right here on this hood.
Margarethe: Look at page fourteen, Sheriff. That’s my father's official notary stamp, registered in Dallas County twenty years ago. Now look at the document Julian submitted to the probate judge last week.
Sheriff Miller pulled out a magnifying glass from his chest pocket, comparing the two blue ink stamps side by side on the hood of the police cruiser as rain splashed around them.
Sheriff Miller: The registration number on this new filing doesn't match the county recorder's seal, Julian.
Julian: That’s... that’s just a clerical error by my paralegal!
Sheriff Miller: A clerical error that transfers forty million dollars of family assets into your private account? That’s not a mistake, son. That’s a felony.
Julian: You can't arrest me based on a quick look in a driveway!
Sheriff Miller: I’m not arresting you yet, Julian. But I am impounding these records and placing a temporary freeze on all transactions related to the Vance estate until Monday morning's court session.
Margarethe stood tall under the pouring rain, watching as Julian’s confident posture completely collapsed. The truth about her father’s legacy was finally out in the open, but the final battle in the courtroom was still ahead.
Margarethe: You thought you could erase my family's name, Julian. But my father prepared for this day for four long years.
Julian: This isn't over, Margarethe. The corporate lawyers will destroy you in court on Monday!
Margarethe: We’ll see who gets destroyed when the grand jury sees what else was inside that vault.
