Richard: “What haven't you told me?”
Elena took a deep breath.
Elena: “Your father never left the trust to you.”
Richard stared at her.
Richard: “What?”
Elena: “He left it to both of us.”
Daniel looked shocked.
Daniel: “That's impossible.”
Elena pulled another document from her purse.
Elena: “Your father knew Daniel would eventually try to take control. So he created a separate trust for the family.”
Richard took the document.
His eyes moved across the page.
Richard: “You knew about this?”
Elena: “Yes.”
Richard: “Then why didn't you tell me?”
Elena began to cry.
Elena: “Because Daniel threatened to hurt you if I did.”
The ballroom went completely silent.
Daniel stepped backward.
Daniel: “She's lying.”
The stranger shook his head.
Stranger: “I recorded every conversation.”
He handed his phone to Richard.
Richard listened.
Daniel's own voice could be heard making threats and discussing the plan.
Richard closed his eyes.
Richard: “It's over, Daniel.”
Security moved toward Daniel.
Daniel looked at Elena.
Daniel: “You chose him.”
Elena: “I chose the truth.”
Daniel was escorted from the ballroom.
Richard turned toward his wife.
Richard: “You should have trusted me.”
Elena: “I was afraid I'd lose you.”
Richard gently took her hand.
Richard: “You almost did.”
Elena nodded.
Elena: “I know.”
The dinner ended that night without music, laughter, or celebration.
But the truth had finally come into the room.
And for Richard, that was worth more than the estate, the trust fund, or every dollar his father had left behind.
