Richard sat at the large oak desk in his home office while holding a thick paper document.
Vanessa walked in quietly holding a fresh tray of warm tea for the grieving father.
She placed the cup gently on the desk next to the framed family photograph.
Vanessa: Sir, the police officer is waiting in the front driveway to take your statement.
Richard: Let him wait a few minutes, Vanessa, I just found something terrible in the safe.
Vanessa: Did Mrs. Vance leave something behind?
Richard: She changed the life insurance policy on Noah last week without my permission.
Richard pointed to the legal document that sat open under the bright desk lamp.
The paper clearly listed Clarissa as the sole beneficiary of a five million dollar policy.
Vanessa gasped as she realized the true motive behind the horrific action on the balcony.
Vanessa: She never loved that sweet baby boy at all.
Richard: She only married me for my family trust fund and this estate.
Vanessa: What are you going to do now, Mr. Vance?
Richard: I am going to make sure she spends the rest of her life behind bars.
The side door opened suddenly and Clarissa walked back inside accompanied by a tall man in a suit.
The man carried a leather briefcase and looked around the room with cold judgment.
Clarissa: This is my lead custody attorney, Richard, and we are taking Noah today.
Richard: You will never touch my son again as long as I draw breath.
Lawyer: My client is the biological mother and has full legal rights until a judge decides otherwise.
Vanessa: You are not taking that child anywhere after what you did!
Clarissa: Know your place, maid, or I will have you arrested for trespassing!
Richard stood up from his chair and walked directly toward the arrogant legal representative.
He held the high-definition phone video up to the attorney's face without saying a word.
The lawyer watched the terrifying footage play frame by frame on the clear display screen.
His face lost all color as he slowly closed his expensive leather briefcase.
Lawyer: Clarissa, you did not inform me about the existence of this video recording.
Clarissa: It does not matter, just get my child out of this house right now!
Lawyer: I am withdrawing from this case immediately, Mrs. Vance.
Clarissa: You coward! I am paying you thousands of dollars to represent me!
The lawyer turned on his heel and walked out of the house without looking back.
Clarissa stood alone in the center of the office while her face flushed with extreme anger.
She looked at Vanessa with pure hatred burning in her bright green eyes.
Clarissa: You ruined everything I worked so hard to build!
Vanessa: Your own cruel heart ruined your life, Clarissa.
Sirens echoed down the long driveway as two police cars pulled up to the front entrance.
Clarissa backed away toward the floor-to-ceiling glass windows in sheer panic.
