A Glass Broken In Anger

The Secret Inheritance That Almost Destroyed Our Family's Future

The tension inside the quiet room rose higher with every passing second.

Victoria walked around the large desk with a calculated, confident stride.

She picked up a crystal glass filled with ice water from a tray.

Victoria: You always had an overactive imagination just like your father.

Sarah: My lawyer reviewed the original trust fund files yesterday morning.

Sarah held her ground despite the intense pressure filling the small space.

She pulled a small folder out from inside her brown leather purse.

Sarah: The real signature matches nothing on your final transfer paper.

Victoria's knuckles turned white as she squeezed the thick glass stem tightly.

Victoria: Those old records were shredded years ago during the renovation.

Sarah: My father kept duplicates inside a safe deposit box downtown.

Victoria stepped forward until she stood only a few feet away from Sarah.

Her calm appearance vanished, replaced by sudden and dark frustration.

Victoria: You think you can ruin everything I built with some old papers?

Sarah: You stole our family legacy while my father was very sick.

Victoria raised her hand in anger, accidentally striking the small tray nearby.

The heavy glass slipped from her hand and shattered against the floor.

Water and sharp shards spread across the beige carpet near Sarah's feet.

Sarah gasped in surprise and took a quick step backward toward the wall.

Her foot caught the edge of a chair leg, throwing off her balance.

She slid down along the wall, catching her breath as panic set in.

Victoria took another step forward, towering over Sarah with a harsh glare.

Victoria: You should have stayed far away from this city forever!

Sarah: Stay back from me, Victoria!

Victoria: Nobody is going to help you prove anything in my clinic!

Victoria raised her hand toward Sarah in a sharp, threatening gesture.

Sarah shielded her baby bump with both arms, calling out for help.

Sarah: David! Help me!

The heavy wooden door flew open with a loud, resounding thud.

David rushed into the room, his eyes instantly locking onto Victoria's actions.

David: Get away from my wife right now!

David stepped directly between Victoria and his shaken wife on the floor.

Victoria stumbled backward in shock, pulling her hands back immediately.

Her face lost all its color as she realized what had just happened.
