The Paper Flower Split In Two

A Cruel Stepmother Destroyed A Gift Until Inheritance Disappeared

The bright morning sun streamed through the tall glass windows of the grand Dallas foyer.

Little Lily stood near the entrance holding a brightly colored paper flower she had crafted at preschool.

Her soft hands gripped the paper stem as she waited patiently for her stepmother to walk down.

Victoria stepped onto the polished floor wearing a designer outfit and an unbothered posture.

The toddler held the gift out high with a huge smile across her adorable freckled cheeks.

Victoria glanced down with complete disgust at the modest handmade craft in front of her.

Victoria: Move out of my way before you ruin my shoes with your messy crafts.

Lily: I spent all morning coloring this red petal just for you!

Victoria: I do not want cheap trash cluttering up my beautiful hallway.

Victoria grabbed the paper flower with harsh force and ripped it straight down the middle.

The pieces fluttered down onto the pristine carpet like fallen autumn leaves in October.

Lily stumbled back in shock as tears filled her bright blue eyes instantly.

Lily: GRANDPA! DAD!

Her loud cry echoed off the tall white walls of the quiet home.

Mark hurried down the grand staircase after hearing his young daughter screaming in distress.

His father Arthur followed closely behind with a severe expression on his face.

Mark immediately noticed the ripped paper scatterings scattered across the expensive carpeted floor.

Mark: Victoria, what happened to the flower Lily made for you today?

Victoria: She dropped it herself because she is completely undisciplined and careless!

Arthur: Do not lie to my son while standing under my roof Victoria.

Arthur pointed up toward the second floor balcony where he had been standing quietly.

Arthur: I stood right up there and saw you tear that child's gift apart.

Victoria shifted her weight uncomfortably as her false story began falling apart completely.

Mark felt a wave of cold realization wash over his entire mind.

He had spent months giving Victoria every luxury she had ever demanded from his trust fund.

Yet she could not show basic kindness to a innocent three-year-old girl.

Mark: You have been pretending to care about my family just to get access to money.

Victoria: That is not true Mark because I truly love our life together!

Mark: You do not love us because love does not destroy a child's heart like this.

Mark knelt down on the carpet and pulled little Lily into a tight protective embrace.

The small girl hid her wet face against his broad shoulder while sobbing quietly.

Mark: I'm here, baby, you're safe now.

Victoria rolled her eyes and crossed her arms in total frustration.

Victoria: You are letting a toddler ruin our marriage over nothing!

Arthur: This is not over nothing, Victoria, this shows who you really are inside.

Arthur pulled his mobile phone from his pocket with a serious glare in his eyes.

Arthur: I have recorded your actions and called our family divorce lawyer already.
