Brenda backed away as if she had been struck by lightning.
The white marble floor seemed to tilt beneath her high heels.
Brenda: You cannot be married to her! The family trust forbids it!
David: The trust specifically names my legal spouse as the primary beneficiary.
Clara felt David's strong arm wrap firmly around her waist.
She pulled a stack of financial statements from her handbag.
Clara: We know about the offshore accounts you opened last month, Brenda.
Brenda's hands began to shake as she stared at the bank papers.
Brenda: That is fake evidence created to ruin my reputation!
David: The federal auditors spent the entire morning reviewing your books.
Brenda made a sudden grab for the documents in Clara's hand.
David stepped forward instantly and blocked her path with his body.
David: Do not even try it, Brenda.
Brenda: You are turning against your own family for a stranger!
David: She is my family now, and you are a criminal.
Brenda let out a sharp gasp of pure disbelief and hatred.
She stepped back toward the marble fireplace in desperation.
Brenda: I built this estate alongside your late father for twenty years!
Clara: You spent twenty years draining my husband's rightful inheritance.
David took a step toward Brenda with complete authority in his voice.
David: You are going straight to federal prison!
Brenda turned pale as the reality of her situation hit her.
The sound of approaching police sirens echoed faintly from the long driveway.
Brenda looked toward the front doors with panic written across her face.
Brenda: You called the authorities on me?
David: I handed over the forged signatures two hours ago.
Brenda tried to rush past David toward the back exit corridor.
David moved quickly and cut off her escape route without hesitation.
David: You are not running away from this, Brenda.
Clara stood tall and watched the woman who had tormented her for months.
The arrogance on Brenda's face had completely vanished into terror.
Brenda: Please, David, we can work this out inside the family!
David: The time for talking ended when you threatened my wife.
David reached out and took firm hold of Brenda's arm to keep her in place.
He guided her firmly across the polished floor toward the front entrance.
Brenda stumbled on her heels as she was moved toward the foyer.
Brenda: Let go of me this instant!
David: You are leaving this house right now.
The grand double doors swung open as two state troopers walked inside.
The bright Texas sunlight poured through the open doorway.
David handed Brenda directly over to the waiting officers.
David: Never step foot in my house again!
The door slammed shut with a massive boom that shook the hallway.
