Father Mark: You monster... you absolute monster!
Stepmother Vanessa: Mark, please! I was stressed! She was throwing tantrums all morning and refusing to eat her lunch from her high chair! I was just trying to teach her a lesson in discipline!
Father Mark: Discipline?! She is a baby! She's two years old!
Stepmother Vanessa: Mark, listen to me! I love you! We can fix this! We can get family counseling! Don't throw away our marriage over a simple misunderstanding!
Mark didn't say another word to her. He lunged forward, his face red with fury, and delivered a loud, echoing slap across Vanessa's cheek. The force of the strike made Vanessa recoil violently, clutching her face in utter shock as she stumbled backward against the velvet chair.
Stepmother Vanessa: You... you hit me?! You laid a hand on me in my own home?!
Father Mark: Get out of my sight before I do something much worse! You will never touch my child again!
Mark instantly dropped down on his knees on the cold marble floor. He didn't care about the dirt or the gravy as he gathered little Lily into his arms, pulling her tiny, trembling body tight against his chest. Tears streamed down his face as he kissed her messy hair over and over again.
Father Mark: I'm here, baby... Daddy's here... I'm so sorry, my little angel... I'm so, so sorry Daddy didn't see this sooner...
Lily: Daddy... no more bowl... please no more bowl...
Father Mark: Never again, baby. Never again. Elena, call 911 right now! Tell them I need the police and an ambulance at this address immediately!
Elena: Dialing right now, Mr. Sterling!
Stepmother Vanessa: The police?! Mark, are you insane?! Think about our reputation in Dallas! Think about the family business! If this leaks to the press, your stock value will plunge!
Father Mark: I don't give a damn about the money or the stocks! You abused my helpless child in her own home! You belong in a prison cell!
Vanessa's panic turned into desperate rage. She grabbed her designer purse from the table and sprinted toward the front door, trying to flee before the authorities arrived. But as she yanked the heavy door open, two uniformed US Police officers were already walking up the front steps, having been dispatched to a welfare check after a neighbor reported screaming earlier.
