The glittering Dallas dining hall was flooded with warm Texas daylight, sparkling off the crystal chandeliers and polished white marble floors. High-society guests laughed over fine wine, their rich voices bouncing against the high ceilings where massive framed American flags hung proudly. At the center table sat Arthur Vance, a self-made billionaire whose empire spanned half the state. His crisp black suit fitted him perfectly, and his sharp eyes scanned the room with quiet authority.
Beside him, Victoria stood up in her crimson silk gown, her diamond necklace flashing under the bright lights. She raised her glass, her voice dripping with artificial warmth as she looked around at the distinguished crowd.
Victoria: A toast to Arthur! A man who built an empire from absolute nothing and never missed a single detail!
Arthur: Thank you, Victoria. But let's save the speeches until everyone is served.
Arthur reached out to pull back his heavy velvet dining chair, preparing to sit down. But before his hands could settle on the carved wood, a sudden blur of motion caught the room's attention. A fair-skinned maid in a crisp uniform rushed forward, her face pale and her hands shaking uncontrollably.
Elena: Sir, stop! Don't sit down!
She grabbed the back of the chair, holding it tightly with both hands, her freckled face pale with sheer terror.
Victoria: Put that chair back right now! How dare you lay your hands on Mr. Vance's seat!
Arthur: Hold on, Victoria. Let her finish.
Elena: Please, Mr. Vance... just look under the velvet cushion.
Arthur leaned down and reached beneath the heavy cushion. His fingers brushed against something hard and metallic. Pulling it out, he held up a small black spy device, its tiny green light blinking steadily before suddenly pulsing bright red. A low, distorted crackle echoed from a tiny earpiece pinned inside Elena's collar.
Radio Earpiece: Don't say another word, Elena. He knows.
