Hidden Under Table at Dallas Wedding, Toddler Reveals Stepmother Evil Secret

The crystal chandeliers of the grand Dallas ballroom reflected off silver trays, casting a golden glow over three hundred guests. Waiters in black vests glided between tables, carrying plates of prime rib and glasses of expensive champagne. Everyone was smiling, celebrating the lavish wedding of Carter and his new bride, Evelyn. But beneath the music and laughter, a mother’s instinct told me something was terribly wrong.

Elena: Has anyone seen Mia? She was right next to me a minute ago.

Sarah: She probably just went to the dessert table, Elena. Relax, it’s a private country club.

Elena: No, Sarah. She’s only three years old. She doesn't wander off alone.

My heart thudded against my ribs as I rushed past the head table. My ex-husband, Carter, was standing near the dance floor, holding a glass of scotch and laughing with his wealthy corporate friends. He hadn't looked at our daughter once all evening. I scanned the room, my eyes sweeping past the white linen tablecloths that draped all the way to the floor. Near the back corner, right beneath the shadow of a giant framed American flag decor on the brick wall, a tiny lace shoe stuck out from under Table Nine.

Elena: Mia? Baby, is that you?

I dropped to my knees on the cold hardwood floor and pulled back the heavy fabric. Sitting under the dark banquet table, clutching a smudged chocolate cupcake to her chest, was my little girl. Tears were streaming down her tiny, pale cheeks, ruining her soft cream-colored dress.

Elena: Sweetheart, why are you under here? What happened?

Mia: Mommy... the bride said Daddy's guests shouldn't see me!
