FABLE

The Trapped Heiress

Locked Inside the Water Tank

Rachel: Hang on, sweetie! Keep your chin up! Mommy is getting you out!

Baby Lily: Mommy... cold! Too much water!

Rachel: I know, baby, I know! Keep breathing!

Richard: What live stream? What are you talking about, Rachel?

Rachel: Did you really think I wouldn't notice the strange transfer requests from the custody estate last night?

Evelyn: You're bluffing. You don't have police on speed dial for a routine house visit.

Rachel: It wasn't a routine visit, Evelyn! I hired a private investigator two days ago when the family lawyer called about the clause in Marcus's will!

Richard: Shut up! Evelyn, grab her arms!

Rachel: Touch me and I swear to God you won't survive until the sirens get here!

Rachel grabbed a heavy bronze statue from the foyer table and slammed it against the reinforced acrylic wall. A dull thud echoed through the room, but the structural glass didn't even crack. Tears mixed with water on her face as she saw Lily struggling to keep her mouth above the rising waterline inside the display tank.

Baby Lily: Mommy!

Rachel: I'm right here! Don't stop breathing!

Evelyn: That glass is bulletproof, you idiot. Designed for custom pressure. You can't break it with a sculpture.

Rachel: Then I'll break your neck instead, Evelyn!

Richard: Don't try it, Rachel. Just step back and let nature take its course. We can work out a settlement. A few million for your silence.

Rachel: Settlement?! You put my daughter in a water trap for money!

Evelyn: Marcus left everything to her! Every single dollar! My brother left his own sister with nothing while this little brat gets the whole estate, the mansion, and the stocks!

Rachel: Because he knew what you were! He knew you gambled away your own trust fund in Vegas!

Richard: That doesn't matter now! Time's up, Rachel!

Baby Lily: *gasping sound*

Rachel: LILY!

Rachel threw her whole body against the side of the glass frame, using her shoulder as a battering ram. The impact bruised her deeply, but she didn't care. She turned toward the maintenance panel beneath the display frame, tearing away the wooden decorative slats with her bare hands.

Richard: Hey! Get away from the wiring!

Rachel: Get off me!

Rachel kicked backward, her heel connecting squarely with Richard's knee. He groaned, stumbling into the marble side pillar as Evelyn shrieked in horror.

Evelyn: Richard, grab her! She's tearing the pressure lines!

Rachel: Where is the emergency bypass valve?! Tell me!

Richard: I destroyed the handle! You can't turn it without a wrench!

Rachel: Then I'll rip the whole pipe out!

Baby Lily: *muffled crying*

Rachel: Stay with me, baby! Look at Mommy!

Suddenly, heavy boots thundered down the exterior front steps. The massive double doors of the Dallas mansion were kicked open with a deafening crash that shattered the standoff in the foyer.
