Rachel: HELP US! MY DAUGHTER IS INSIDE THE WATER TANK!
Police Officer: Step away from the controls! Hands where I can see them!
Richard: Officer, wait! This is a terrible misunderstanding—
Police Officer: DOWN ON THE GROUND! NOW!
Evelyn: We were just trying to fix the filter! She's crazy, officer! She put the baby in there herself!
Rachel: YOU LIAR! Officer, the override is locked! She's running out of air!
The lead police officer rushed toward the tank, evaluating the situation in a split second. Seeing the water level reaching the very top rim where tiny fingers were clutching the rim, he drew his heavy tactical crowbar from his entry kit.
Police Officer: Stand back, ma'am! Clear the splash radius!
Rachel: Save her! Please!
Police Officer: Cover your eyes!
With a powerful surge, the officer jammed the steel crowbar into the lock seam of the upper hatch assembly. Sparks flew as the metallic lock housing groaned under the extreme leverage. With a loud snap, the digital locking mechanism sheared off, breaking the airtight seal.
Baby Lily: *coughing and crying desperately*
Rachel: LILY!
Rachel plunged her arms into the freezing water before the hatch was even fully opened. She pulled her wet, shivering daughter out of the narrow opening, crushing the baby against her chest in a desperate embrace.
Rachel: I've got you! I've got you, baby! You're safe!
Baby Lily: Mommy... cold...
Rachel: Shh, it's over, my baby girl is safe. Mommy's here.
Police Officer 2: Suspect 1 is secure. Cuffs on the male suspect.
Richard: Ouch! Watch the arms! I didn't touch the baby! I was just standing here!
Police Officer: Shut your mouth. You're on camera, buddy.
Evelyn: You don't know who we are! Our family lawyer will have us out in an hour! This is private property!
Police Officer: Your private property just became a active crime scene for attempted capital murder, lady.
Rachel: Show them the phone video, officer. Show him what his phone recorded.
Police Officer: Search his jacket pockets. Get his device.
Richard: Hey! You can't search me without a warrant!
Police Officer 2: Exigent circumstances and active danger to a minor. Phone secured.
The officer tapped the glowing screen of Richard's confiscated smartphone. The display instantly revealed a live camera feed application showing the tank, fully synchronized with an automated valve timer app running in the background.
Police Officer: YOU WERE WATCHING HER! You were monitoring the water level from your phone while standing two feet away!
Richard: *stammers uncontrollably* That's... that's not what it looks like...
Police Officer: It looks like attempted murder on live video feed. Take them both to the cruisers!
