Michael: “Sarah, what papers did you find?”
Sarah: “I was going to tell you.”
Michael: “You should have told me the moment you found them.”
Sarah wiped her tears.
Sarah: “Your father changed his will two weeks before he died.”
Michael stared at her.
Michael: “Changed it how?”
Victoria finally spoke.
Victoria: “He left the main property in Emma's name.”
Michael looked at his daughter.
Michael: “Why didn't the lawyer tell me?”
Sarah: “Because the document was kept in a private trust.”
Michael's anger quickly turned into confusion.
Michael: “Then why were you hiding it from me?”
Sarah began to cry.
Sarah: “Because there was another page.”
She pulled a folded document from her purse.
Sarah: “Your father wrote that if you ever discovered the truth, the trust would be investigated.”
Michael read the page.
His expression changed.
The estate had not simply been transferred to Emma.
Years earlier, Michael's father had discovered that someone had been secretly taking money from the family business. He had never revealed the person's name because he wanted to protect his family.
Michael looked at Victoria.
Michael: “Dad suspected you?”
Victoria shook her head.
Victoria: “No. He suspected me because someone made it look like I did it.”
Then she pointed at Sarah.
Victoria: “She was the only person who had access to those records.”
Sarah covered her face.
Sarah: “I didn't steal anything.”
Emma suddenly screamed.
Emma: “Stop fighting!”
Everyone turned toward her.
Emma: “Grandpa told me Mommy wasn't bad. He said someone else was lying.”
