Victoria Vance lost all of her high-society poise in a split second. She lunged forward and slapped Julian hard across the face, the crack echoing like a gunshot across the marble ballroom.
Julian: Victoria! Calm down!
Victoria: CALM DOWN?! You used my family's name to sign loan guarantees with three separate Dallas banks! You told me your trust fund was releasing fifty million dollars next week!
Elena: His trust fund doesn't exist, Mrs. Vance. His real name is Julian Vance-Cross, a disgraced accountant from suburban Detroit who served two years for fraud back in 2018.
Chloe: Julian... is this true? Are you a convict?!
Julian: Chloe, look at me! I love you! Everything I did, I did to build a future for us! We were going to own this city together!
Chloe: You lied to me! You told me your family owned half of Chicago! I gave you access to my personal offshore trust last month!
Elena: You might want to check that trust account right now, Miss Vance. Because three days ago, two million dollars was transferred from your name to a private charter flight company registered in the Bahamas.
Chloe pulled out her bedazzled iPhone, her hands shaking so hard she nearly dropped it. After tapping screen for ten seconds, a loud gasp escaped her throat.
Chloe: It's gone... my trust account is completely empty!
Victoria: YOU MONSTER! YOU ROBBED MY DAUGHTER!
Victoria grabbed a full glass of red wine from a nearby waiter's tray and threw it straight into Julian's face, staining his pristine white tuxedo shirt deep crimson.
Julian: You people don't understand! I was going to multiply that money! I had a tech investment lined up in Austin!
Elena: You don't have investments, Julian. You have a gambling addiction and four active arrest warrants in the state of Illinois.
Julian: Shut up! Shut your mouth, Elena!
Julian made an aggressive step toward Elena, his hands clenched into tight fists. But before he could reach her, two massive men in dark suits stepped out from behind the velvet curtains near the entrance.
Special Agent Miller: Federal Agents! Don't move, Julian! Keep your hands where we can see them!
