Victoria backed up against the decorative wall trim, her heart pounding as David stood over her. The luxury of the upper floor, with its expensive oil paintings and crystal wall sconces, felt suffocating. Her face was flushed with anger, but beneath it lay a growing sense of panic. She had expected to eliminate the child quietly, to claim it was a tragic accident while the maid was busy, but Elena's quick reflexes had shattered her dark plan entirely.
Victoria: Get your hands off me, David! You're losing your mind!
David: You tried to kill my daughter! A one-year-old baby!
Victoria: She was going to inherit everything! The trust fund, the estate, the corporate shares! What about me?!
David: You came into this marriage for money, and now you will leave with nothing!
Victoria: You can't prove a thing! It's my word against a maid's word!
Before she could finish her sentence, David lunged forward. A sharp, stinging slap echoed across the open floor as his hand struck her face. Victoria gasped, stumbling sideways as her cheek turned bright red. She clutched her face in shock, staring at David with wide, furious eyes.
Victoria: AHH! You hit me! You actually struck me!
David: GET OUT OF MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW! CALL 911!
Victoria: You'll pay for this! I will sue you for every dollar you own!
David: I'm calling the police right now! You are going to prison for attempted murder!
David pulled out his phone, his thumb rapidly dialing the emergency digits. Victoria realized that her window of escape was closing fast. If the police arrived while she was still in the house, the physical evidence and Elena's witness statement would lock her behind bars immediately. She spun around and ran down the private spiral staircase leading toward the side exit of the mansion.
David: Operator! I need emergency services at 404 Bel Air Drive right now! My wife just tried to throw my baby from the tenth floor!
Operator: Sir, stay calm. Are you and the child in a safe location?
David: The child is safe with the maid locked in the study, but the suspect is attempting to flee the property!
Operator: Units are dispatched and on their way. Do not engage her if she is dangerous.
David ended the call and rushed down the stairs, following the sound of Victoria's clicking heels as she hurried toward the lower level. Down in the study, Elena heard the footsteps and pressed her back against the heavy mahogany door, holding baby Lily close to her heart. The baby had stopped crying, resting her head softly against Elena's shoulder.
Elena: Shh... it's okay, little one. Your daddy is protecting us now.
Out in the main hallway, Victoria reached the grand entryway near the front door. She grabbed her designer purse from the console table, searching frantically for her car
