The Maid's Son Cried Mommy At My Wedding

The organ music echoed through the crystal chandeliers of the St. Regis ballroom, a heavy, suffocating sound that made my stomach knot. My hands trembled around my bouquet of white roses, each stem cut with clinical precision. Beside me stood Julian Sterling, heir to the Sterling real estate fortune, his posture flawless, his expression smooth like polished marble. To the world, this was the social event of the year, a fairy-tale union between two powerful families, but behind my veil, I was struggling to breathe.

Julian: Try to smile, Clara. The press is taking photos from the balcony.

Clara: I am smiling, Julian. It's just... a lot of people.

Julian: It’s our wedding day. You should look thrilled that you're marrying into this family.

I squeezed my eyes shut for a second, swallowing the bitter taste in my throat. I looked down the aisle, where the catering staff stood silently in black uniforms, forced to observe the grandeur from the shadows. Among them was Helena, the quiet lead maid who had served the Sterling estate for four years, her face pale, her hands folded tightly over her apron. Suddenly, the double doors at the back of the chapel slammed open with a deafening bang that cut through the organ's crescendo.

Leo: MOMMY!

A little boy in a beige suit ran into the aisle, tears streaming down his face, his frantic eyes searching the crowd before locking onto the altar. The whole room froze in collective shock as the child pushed past millionaires and heiresses, his tiny shoes slapping against the pristine white marble runner. He wasn't running toward me, nor was he running toward any of the wealthy guests in the pews. He was sprinting directly toward Julian, his small arms outstretched in sheer desperation, calling out a truth that was about to blow our entire life apart.
