Terror In The Suburban Park

The Police Dog Tackled My Little Girl In A Park

Mark: What do you mean stay still?! Your dog just attacked a toddler!

Officer Miller: Sir, look at the brush behind your daughter. Do not make any sudden movements!

Mark paused, his chest heaving as he slowly shifted his gaze past the trembling German Shepherd. Beneath the thick leaves of the suburban bushes, two glowing amber eyes stared back at them. A massive, wild predator crouched in the dark shadows, its claws dug into the Texas dirt, ready to pounce on the child.

Sarah: Oh my God... Is that... a big cat?

Officer Miller: It's an escaped mountain lion from the private reserve nearby. My dog Duke didn't attack your daughter. He tackled her to get her out of the kill zone!

Mark: Jesus Christ... Duke saved her life.

The heavy mountain lion growled again, a sound so low it vibrated through the crisp park air. Duke, the police K9, stayed pinned on top of little Lily, shielding her body entirely with his own thick coat. Lily whimpered softly under the dog, but Duke kept his broad chest heavy against her, keeping her flat on the ground where the predator couldn't easily snatch her.

Officer Miller: Easy, Duke. Hold the line, buddy. Assistance is two minutes out.

Sarah: Please... please don't let it hurt my baby!

Officer Miller: Ma'am, keep your voice down. The noise is keeping the animal agitated. Mark, slowly step back toward your wife.

Mark: I am not leaving my daughter, Officer.

Officer Miller: You moving close will trigger the predator's instinct to strike. Trust Duke. He is trained for high-risk physical interdiction. He will not move until I give the command.

The mountain lion took a slow, calculated step out of the dense brush. Its golden coat shimmered under the afternoon sunlight, exposing muscle and sharp claws. It locked its gaze on Duke and the little girl beneath him.

Mark: It's coming closer! Shoot it!

Officer Miller: I can't take a clean shot from this angle! The child is right in the line of fire if the round over-penetrates!

Sarah: Do something! Please, somebody do something!

Duke let out a sharp, ferocious bark, his upper lip curling back to reveal sharp teeth. He did not retreat an inch. The police dog snarled viciously at the wild feline, placing his full weight directly over Lily's torso to protect her vital organs.

Mark: Duke is holding it back! He's fighting for her!

Officer Miller: Duke, speak! Keep it focused on you!

The giant cat snarled back, swiping a massive paw through the air just feet away from Duke's face. Lily let out a sharp cry from beneath the dog's belly.

Lily: Mommy!

Sarah: I'm right here baby! Don't move! Stay under the doggy!

Sirens wailing in the distance began to grow louder, echoing down the Texas highway toward the suburban park. The high-pitched noise startled the big cat, causing it to twitch its ears back nervously.

Officer Miller: Backup is turning onto the park entrance lane! We just need twenty seconds!

Mark: It's coiling its legs! It's going to jump!

Officer Miller: Duke, HOLD!

The mountain lion sprang forward, its heavy weight launching off the dirt straight toward Duke and little Lily.
