The Mark of the Chosen

The Secret Heir of Dallas Arena

The silence in the grand colosseum was deafening. Thousands of spectators who had been chanting for blood were now frozen in shock. The floating sword hovered in the air, glowing with an otherworldly golden aura that illuminated the entire dusty floor.

King Arthur: "Guards! What trickery is this? Seize that boy immediately!"

Commander Thomas: "Your Majesty... look at his chest. Look at the crest. That is no trick."

King Arthur: "Nonsense! He is a nameless orphan from the outer slums! He has no right to hold the Sun Crest!"

Leo’s Mother: "He has every right, Arthur! Because he is your older brother’s only true heir!"

A collective gasp echoed across the crowd. King Arthur’s face turned completely red with rage as he slammed his golden goblet onto the marble railing.

King Arthur: "You lie! My brother died eighteen years ago in the Great Fire! His entire lineage was wiped out!"

Leo’s Mother: "He didn't die in the fire! You started that fire to steal his throne, and I saved his infant son from the flames!"

Leo: "Mother... what is she talking about? What is happening to me?"

Leo’s Mother: "Reach out your hand, Leo! Touch the hilt! It belongs to you, just as it belonged to your father!"

Leo raised his trembling right hand toward the floating weapon. The moment his fingers brushed against the leather-wrapped hilt, a massive surge of golden energy burst outward in a shockwave, knocking back the guards who were rushing down the arena steps. The massive black dragon backed away, lowering its head in absolute submission.

Commander Thomas: "By the heavens... the beast is bowing to him!"

King Arthur: "Shoot him! Archers, draw your bows and shoot him where he stands!"

Commander Thomas: "My Lord, we cannot attack the true heir! The ancient law strictly forbids—"

King Arthur: "I AM THE LAW! Draw your bows, you fools, or I will have all your heads on pikes!"

Dozens of royal archers raised their bows, aiming their steel-tipped arrows directly at Leo’s heart. Leo gripped the golden sword tightly, its weight feeling surprisingly natural in his hand. He stepped in front of his mother, placing his body between her and the armed guards above.

Leo: "You tried to destroy my family once, Arthur. You won't touch her again!"

King Arthur: "Fire!"

A cloud of sharp arrows rained down from the royal balcony. But before the arrows could hit, Leo swung the golden sword through the air. A massive shield of light formed in front of him, shattering the arrows into harmless splinters. The crowd exploded into wild cheers, realizes that the rightful king had finally returned.

King Arthur: "Release the second dragon! Kill them all!"

Commander Thomas: "No, Your Majesty. This madness ends now!"

Commander Thomas drew his broadsword and pointed it directly at King Arthur’s throat, making the tyrant step back in horror.
