David: You knew my business was struggling. You knew I was staring at a foreclosure notice on my home!
Mark: We were going to give you access to the funds slowly, David! Through the agreement I just gave you!
Sarah: You were using his own inheritance to blackmail him into giving up his business rights! You were forcing him to sign away his freedom with money that already belonged to him!
Evelyn: It was for his own good, Sarah! David is too soft! He gives bonuses to workers when the company is losing money! He doesn't have the stomach for real business!
David: My grandmother trusted me! She saw how you treated people, Dad, and she wanted to make sure I wasn't forced under your thumb!
Mark: That paper won't hold up in court without the executor's signature! My lawyers will tie up that property in litigation for five years!
Sarah: Look at the bottom of the page, Mark!
Sarah stepped forward, pointing her finger right at the bottom right corner of the document. Two official seals pressed into red wax sat right beneath the grandmother's signature, along with a certified notary stamp dated three years ago.
Sarah: It’s already notarized and registered with the state probate office! It doesn't need your executor signature at all!
Mark: That... that's impossible. She did that without telling the family board?
David: She knew what kind of people you were. She knew you would try to hide it from me, just like you did for two months!
Leo walked over to David, reaching up his little hands to pull on his father's jeans. David reached down, picking his son up into his arms, holding him tight against his chest as he looked his parents dead in the eye.
Leo: Papa no cry?
David: Papa's not crying, buddy. Papa is wide awake now.
Evelyn: David, darling, please... let’s talk about this calmly. We can tear up that new contract. We can transfer the dividend account to you by this afternoon!
David: You’re not transferring anything to me, Mom. My lawyer is going to contact the trust executor before noon today and take control of everything Grandma left me.
Mark: If you do this, David, you are cutting yourself off from the family business forever! You will never step foot in my boardroom again!
David: I built my own company without your boardroom, Dad. And starting today, I don't ever need to ask you for help again.
Sarah: Get out of our house.
Evelyn: Sarah, stay out of this! This is a private family matter between a father and his son!
Sarah: This is MY home! A home you tried to take away from my husband and my son today! Get out before I call the police and report you for stealing legal estate documents!
Mark’s face flushed dark red with anger, but the cold realization of his legal defeat washed over him. He snapped his briefcase shut, grabbing his coat off the back of the dining chair with a harsh tug.
