Julian: Victoria, stop! Think about what you are saying!
Victoria: I have never thought more clearly in my entire life.
Eleanor: You are making a huge scene in front of Dallas's most prominent business families!
Victoria: Then let them watch!
Victoria picked up the thick leather folder containing the revised trust fund documents from the table.
With a quick, sharp motion, she ripped the first page right down the middle.
Eleanor: How dare you! That is an legal draft prepared by my family lawyers!
Victoria: It's garbage, Eleanor. Just like your respect for my family.
She ripped the remaining pages in half again and dropped the white scraps onto the golden serving tray.
The entire ballroom went completely quiet, the string quartet suddenly stopping their music mid-note.
Julian: Victoria, please! I'll sign the adoption papers today! Right now! I'll fire my lawyer!
Victoria: You had six months to sign them, Julian. You chose your mother's trust fund over my son's dignity.
Eleanor: Julian, let her go! If she can destroy legal documents in public, she is not fit to be a Sterling!
Julian: Shut up, Mom! Just shut up for once!
Eleanor: How dare you speak to your mother like that!
Leo: Yay! Big noise!
Leo clapped his little hands, giggling at Julian's sudden shout, unaware of the heavy heartbreak hanging in the air.
Victoria reached behind her back and unclipped the long, shimmering lace veil from her blonde hair.
She handed the veil directly to Eleanor.
Victoria: Keep your expensive wedding, Eleanor. Keep your estate, your mansions, and your precious family name.
Eleanor: You will regret this when you have to pay back the event deposits!
Victoria: Check the receipts, Eleanor. My bank account paid the venue deposit, not yours.
Eleanor: What?
Victoria: I paid twenty thousand dollars out of my personal savings to book this hall. And as the primary client on the contract, I am shutting this reception down right now.
Julian: Victoria, you can't do that to our guests!
Victoria: Watch me, Julian.
