David: You... you opened your hands.
David’s voice came out in a dry, rattling whisper, his grip on the tablet tightening until the casing creaked.
Victoria: David, no! That’s an optical illusion! Wide-angle security cameras distort depth!
David: You stretched your arms over the banister and released my infant son into thin air!
David turned his head slowly, his eyes wild with a terrifying mixture of shock and sickening rage.
Victoria: It was a muscle spasm! My wrist gave out! You know I’ve been complaining about nerve pain!
Chloe: You don't have nerve pain, Victoria! You looked right down at the floor before you dropped him!
Victoria: Shut your mouth, you little brat!
Victoria's smooth, charming facade shattered completely as she swung her open palm viciously toward Chloe’s face.
Before the slap could land, David stepped forward, snatching Victoria’s wrist in mid-air with an iron grip.
David: Do not touch my daughter.
Victoria: Let go of me, David! You're bruising my wrist!
David: Why did you do it, Victoria? Tell me right now before I lose every ounce of control I have left!
He shoved her arm back, forcing her to stumble backward against the mahogany railing of the lower steps.
Victoria: You really want to know?! You want to have this conversation in front of the maid?!
Elena: I have worked for this family for six years, Mrs. Vance. I deserve to know why you tried to frame me for murder.
Victoria: You’re a maid! You don't deserve a damn thing!
David: Answer the question, Victoria! Why did you try to murder my son?!
Victoria: Because he isn't mine!
The scream erupted from Victoria’s throat like venom, echoing against the high plaster ceiling.
David froze in place, clutching Liam against his chest as the baby whined softly.
David: Liam is my flesh and blood. You knew we used Sarah’s frozen embryos before we got married!
Victoria: Yes! And you swore to me that Sarah was in the past! You promised me a real marriage!
David: Sarah died of cancer three years ago, Victoria! Her final wish was for her embryos to be carried by a surrogate!
Victoria: And that surrogate baby destroyed every plan I had for my future!
Victoria paced back and forth across the marble tiles, her perfectly manicured nails digging into the palms of her hands.
Victoria: Your high-priced estate lawyer had me sign a prenuptial agreement that leaves me practically penniless if we divorce without a biological child of my own!
David: That prenup was drafted by Richard Sterling to protect Sarah’s trust fund for Chloe and Liam!
Victoria: Exactly! Seventy percent of your entire billionaire estate is tied up in a trust for Sarah’s biological heirs!
Elena: So you wanted to kill the baby to take the money?
Victoria: Shut up, Elena! Don't you dare speak to me!
David: Tell me, Victoria. Did you honestly think you could kill a defenseless newborn and pin it on Elena?
Victoria: If the child had an accidental fall due to gross domestic negligence, the surrogate trust fund would have dissolved back into the main marital accounts!
David: You calculated the murder of a three-month-old child over a legal clause?
Victoria: The public would have rallied around us, David! We would have grieved together, Elena would have gone to prison, and then we could have had our own biological child to inherit everything!
Elena let out a horrified gasp, covering her mouth with her trembling, bruised hand.
Elena: You are sick. You are an absolute monster.
Victoria: I am a woman who protects her interests, Elena. Something a cleaning lady would never understand.
From the long, private winding driveway outside, the sharp, wailing pitch of police sirens pierced through the heavy silence.
David stared at his wife with cold, dead eyes, feeling absolute disgust in his gut.
