The Whispering Chair in the Dallas Mansion

The crystal chandeliers of the Dallas estate threw dazzling light across the polished white marble floors. High-society guests chatted over fine wine, their laughter ringing against framed artwork and velvet drapes. At the head of the long oak table sat Arthur Vance, a billionaire real estate tycoon whose name carried immense weight across Texas. Beside him, his fiancee, Victoria, adjusted her glittering diamond bracelet, smoothing her crimson evening dress with practiced grace.

Victoria: Arthur, darling, everyone is waiting for your toast. Sit down so we can begin the soup course.

Arthur smiled, raising his hand to address the room. As he leaned back to take his seat, a sudden movement broke the high-class composure of the room. Clara, a fair-skinned housemaid with faint freckles across her nose, rushed out from the side kitchen doors. Her apron rustled, and her face was drained of color.

Clara: Sir! Please, don't sit down!

She grabbed the back of the heavy, velvet-upholstered dining chair, holding it firmly in place before Arthur’s weight could hit the cushion.

Victoria: PUT THAT CHAIR BACK!

Victoria stood up in rage, her eyes flashing with intense fury as she pointed aggressively at Clara.

Victoria: How dare you touch his seat? You’re a maid! Get out of this dining hall immediately!

Clara: Please, sir... I'm begging you. Just wait a second.

Arthur: Hold on, Victoria. Let her finish.

Arthur turned to Victoria with a stern, commanding tone, raising a hand to quiet her. The entire dining hall fell dead silent. Clara trembled under the collective gaze of twenty wealthy guests. Her fingers reached under the thick velvet cushion of the head chair. With a sharp metallic click, her fingers pulled something free. She held up a small, sleek black spy bug device. A tiny green light blinks on its surface.

Arthur: My security team didn't install this.

Arthur took the tiny black box into his palm, inspecting it closely. The green light suddenly flipped to a fast, flashing red. A subtle electronic beep vibrated through the room. Victoria gasped, her eyes darting toward the curtained archway, her face turning pale. Before anyone could speak, a crackling sound echoed from a small radio earpiece tucked discreetly beneath Clara’s hair.

Radio Earpiece: DON'T SAY ANOTHER WORD. HE KNOWS.

Clara froze in place as the distorted, ominous voice hissed through the speaker. The high-stakes atmosphere tightened like a coil, leaving Arthur staring at the tiny blinking light that held the dark secrets of his own home.
