Victoria: What the hell are you doing in my private office?!
Victoria stood in the doorway, her eyes wide with panic as she saw the thick legal folder in Marcus's hands. The police officers were still downstairs taking notes, giving her a brief moment to slip back inside the house.
Marcus: You forged my name on my dead wife's estate documents, Victoria!
Victoria: I don't know what you're talking about! That maid is framing me! She planted those papers!
Elena: I don't even know how to write in legal terms, Mrs. Vance. Those papers have your private lawyer's letterhead on them!
Marcus: You tried to kill my two-year-old baby for twenty million dollars!
Victoria: That is a ridiculous accusation! You have no proof of anything! So what if I looked into the inheritance structure? As your legal wife, I have a right to know our financial standing!
Marcus: You forged my signature! That is felony fraud! And today... today you tried to stage an drowning accident in the pool so you could inherit everything!
Victoria: Shut up! Just shut up!
Victoria's composed facade shattered completely. She lunged forward, reaching out with her long acrylic nails to snatch the documents out of Marcus's hands. But Marcus stepped back effortlessly, shoving her shoulder to push her away from the desk.
Marcus: Don't you dare touch these documents! They are going straight to the district attorney!
Victoria: You think you're so smart, Marcus? You think anyone will believe a grieving father over a prominent socialite? My father is on the city council! I will ruin you before you ever get me near a courtroom!
Marcus: You really think you're above the law, don't you?
Victoria: I know how this city works! You have no video evidence of what happened at the pool. It's just the maid's word against mine. And as for those papers, I'll claim you signed them yourself and forgot because of your heavy drinking!
Elena: Actually, Mrs. Vance... there is video evidence.
Victoria paused mid-breath, turning her head slowly to stare at Elena with deep hatred.
Victoria: What did you say, you simple-minded servant?
Elena: Mr. Vance had a security system installed in the pool house last month because of the recent neighborhood break-ins. The high-definition camera is hidden right inside the patio clock. It records 4K video directly to a cloud server twenty-four hours a day.
Victoria’s face turned completely white, the color draining from her cheeks until she looked like a ghost standing in the dim light of the study.
Marcus: The pool house camera... I completely forgot about the new security installation.
Elena: I didn't forget, sir. Before I ran to save Lily, I saw the blue light on the clock flashing. Everything you did to that sweet child is saved on high-definition video, Mrs. Vance. Every single second of it.
Victoria: No... no, that's impossible! You're lying to scare me!
Marcus: Let's go pull up the cloud footage right now on my phone. Let's see who is lying.
