Dark Nights and Broken Dreams

When Marriage Comes Too Soon Before Financial Stability

Night fell over the city, casting deep shadows across the bedroom. The only illumination came from a single, small desk lamp sitting on the corner of a cluttered wooden table. Outside, the quiet hum of late-night traffic drifted through the glass window, matching the slow, mechanical ticking of the wall clock.

Liam sat motionless at the desk, illuminated only by the faint yellow glow of the lamp. Spread out before him were past-due notices, car insurance demands, and court summons for unpaid credit accounts. The numbers on the paper added up to a total that felt completely impossible to reach.

He rested his face in his trembling hands, taking a heavy, distressed sigh that shuddered through his entire body. His chest felt tight, as if a physical weight were pressing down on his lungs, making every breath a conscious effort.

The sweat glistened on his forehead under the warm lamp light as tears slipped slowly down his pale cheeks. His breathing became heavy and unsteady, caught in the grip of overwhelming financial anxiety that he could no longer contain.

Liam: How did I let everything fall apart so fast?

He whispered the words into the quiet room, but no answer came back to comfort him. The ticking clock seemed to mock his failure with every passing second, counting down the time until total ruin. He wiped his face with the back of his hand, but fresh tears replaced them immediately.

His phone buzzed softly on the wood surface, displaying a missed call notification from his mother. He stared at her name on the screen, feeling an unbearable wave of guilt wash over his heart. She had warned him so clearly in her bright kitchen, but his pride had kept him from listening.

Liam: She was right. Mom was completely right about everything.

He couldn't bring himself to answer the call, too ashamed to admit that his dream life had crumbled into dust. He leaned back in the desk chair, staring up at the dark ceiling as his heavy breath gradually slowed down.

He realized that his stubbornness had not only destroyed his own peace of mind, but had also dragged Chloe into a miserable situation she wasn't prepared to handle. The romantic love they once shared was now buried under mountains of financial stress and constant bitter arguments.

He stood up slowly from the chair, his legs feeling weak beneath him as he walked over to the bedroom window. Looking out at the city lights below, he knew he had reached absolute rock bottom. He needed to make a radical change, no matter how much it hurt his remaining pride.
