Mark walked up the concrete path alongside the two uniformed officers.
Officer Davis knocked firmly on the front white wooden door frame.
Sarah opened the door, wearing her expensive designer wool coat today.
Her face fell completely when she saw the blue uniforms standing.
Officer Davis: Sarah Johnson, you are being served with a court order.
Sarah: What is the meaning of this absolute legal nonsense, Mark?
Mark: You are required to leave my property right now, Sarah.
Officer Davis: You have fifteen minutes to gather your personal items.
Sarah looked at the police officers and then at her husband.
She realized that her cruel games were finally completely finished today.
She stomped up the wooden stairs to grab her large suitcases.
Ten minutes later, she walked back down carrying two leather bags.
She glared at Mark with intense hatred in her dark eyes.
Sarah: You destroyed our entire marriage over a stupid meal, Mark!
Mark: You destroyed this family by harming my innocent young child.
Sarah: I hope you end up miserable and alone forever now!
Mark: My daughter and I will be just fine without you.
Sarah rushed past the officers and walked down the steps fast.
She loaded her heavy luggage into her small red convertible car.
She drove away down the quiet street, tires screeching loudly away.
Mark watched her car vanish around the distant neighborhood corner completely.
He stepped back inside his bright home and locked the door.
The quiet house felt instantly lighter and much safer than before.
Mark drove over to his sister Martha's house to get Lily.
When Lily saw her father, she ran and hugged his waist.
Lily: Is it safe for us to go back home now, Daddy?
Mark: Yes, sweetie, nobody will ever hurt you again, ever.
Lily: I love you so much, Daddy, thank you so much!
Mark: I love you more than anything in this whole world.
They drove back home together under the bright afternoon sky light.
Mark spent the rest of the day cooking a mild meal.
They sat at the dining room table without any fear remaining.
Lily smiled warmly as she ate her soft chicken noodle soup.
Mark knew that healing would take time for his small family.
However, justice had been served, and peace had finally returned home.
