Julian: Call the police? For what, Clara? So they can arrest you for losing your mind on my daughter two hours before our ceremony?
Clara: You didn't even ask me a single question! You just walked in here and started screaming at me!
Julian: What is there to ask? Look at this room! Look at Lily! She is seven years old, Clara! Her hair is completely ruined!
Lily: She took the clippers from the bathroom drawer, Daddy! She told me to sit down!
Clara: Lily, why are you lying like that? Tell your father the truth right now!
Julian: Don't you dare yell at her! She's a child! She's terrified of you!
Clara: Julian, listen to me for one second. Look at the vanity floor. Look at what is actually stuck on her scalp!
Julian: I don't care what's on the floor! I care that my daughter is hysterically crying and my bride has lost her mind!
Clara: It was industrial construction glue, Julian! She found a tube in your coat pocket and tried to put hair gel in her hair!
Julian stopped in his tracks, his chest heaving under his crisp dress shirt. He blinked, looking down at his daughter, who suddenly pressed her face deep into her stuffed animal's plush chest.
Julian: What construction glue? What are you talking about?
Clara: The quick-set epoxy from your truck! She thought it was hair paste. It was burning her skin, Julian! It hardened within three minutes into a rock-solid block against her scalp!
Julian: Is... is that true, Lily?
Lily: I wanted my hair to stay shiny like Clara's hair for the pictures...
Clara: The glue was chemically reacting and heating up. I tried washing it out with warm water and oil for twenty minutes, but it was pulling her skin raw! She was screaming in pain!
Julian: Why didn't you call me on my phone first?
Clara: Because you were down at the bar having drinks with your groomsmen and your phone went straight to voicemail three times!
Julian: I... my battery died down in the basement lounge.
Clara: Right. So I had to make an executive decision as a mother and a human being to stop your daughter's scalp from getting third-degree chemical burns!
Julian: Clara, I... I didn't see the glue. I just saw the hair on the floor and the clippers in your hand.
Clara: You didn't look. You never look. You just assumed the absolute worst of me, just like your family always does.
Julian: Okay, look, I reacted badly. I was shocked. Let's just calm down and figure this out.
Clara: Reacted badly? You grabbed my arm so hard it's going to bruise, Julian. And you threw my engagement ring into the trash heap of hair!
Julian: I was angry! Anyone would be angry seeing their kid crying with a clipper over her head!
Clara: A normal man asks a question before he strips a woman of her dignity and throws her ring across a room!
Julian: Don't turn this into a drama, Clara. It's our wedding day. There are one hundred and fifty guests sitting downstairs in the garden right now!
Clara: Oh, so you care about the guests now? What about the fact that your daughter needs to see a doctor right now to check her skin?
Lily: My head still hurts, Daddy. It feels hot.
Clara: Exactly. Stop worrying about your precious photo appearance and look at her scalp.
Julian: Okay, fine! We'll call off the main entrance for twenty minutes. My mother is downstairs. She can come up and look after Lily.
Clara: Your mother? The woman who told me last night at the rehearsal dinner that I was only marrying you for your real estate portfolio?
Julian: My mother loves Lily! She knows how to handle kids!
Clara: She doesn't love me, Julian. And after what you just did, I'm starting to realize you don't respect me either.
Julian: Don't say that. You know I love you. I spent eighty thousand dollars on this wedding venue!
Clara: Money isn't respect, Julian. Money is just how you cover up your quick temper.
