FABLE

Judgment in the Sand

The Ancient Crest Beneath the Arena Sand

Caleb: Your reign ends today, Aldrich. Yield your crown and face justice for your crimes.

King Aldrich: I will never yield to a street rat!

Aldrich charged across the sand, his dark steel blade flashing as he thrust forward with lethal precision, aiming straight for Caleb's heart. Caleb didn't even raise his sword to parry; he simply stepped sideways, his movements smooth and effortless under the enhancement of his magical crest.

Caleb: You are slow, old man. Your anger has blinded you.

King Aldrich: Shut up! Die!

Aldrich swung wildly, his blade slashing empty air again and again. Sweat poured down the usurper's face as he panted heavily, his expensive silk robes stained with dark red arena dust. Every strike he made was met with effortless dodges as Caleb glided around him like a ghost.

Lady Serena: Father, stop! You cannot win this fight!

King Aldrich: Stay out of this, Serena! I built this empire with my own hands!

Caleb: You didn't build it. You stole it, starved the people, and locked away the truth.

Caleb brought the flat side of the Sun Blade down with swift, controlled force, striking Aldrich's wrist. The steel rapier flew from the usurper's hand, spinning through the air before embedding itself deep into the arena wall behind them.

King Aldrich: Argh! My hand!

Aldrich fell to his knees, clutching his bruised wrist as he looked up into the blazing golden eyes of the young prince. The point of the Sun Blade hovered just inches from his throat, radiating a fierce heat that singed the collar of his silk cloak.

Caleb: Give me one reason why I shouldn't end your life right here in the dirt where you tried to throw mine.

King Aldrich: Please... spare me! I will give you all the gold in the vault! I will leave the kingdom forever!

Caleb: Gold cannot buy back the lives you destroyed. It cannot pay for twenty years of tyranny.

Lady Serena walked down the stone steps of the royal box, entering the arena floor with her hands raised high in peace. The crowd fell quiet as she approached the two men, her expression solemn and resolved.

Lady Serena: My Lord... Prince Caleb. Please do not execute him in anger. Let him face the people's court.

Caleb: Lady Serena. You knew the truth all along?

Lady Serena: I suspected it, but I was too afraid to speak out. I will accept whatever punishment you deem fair for my family, but let us start your reign with justice, not blood.

Caleb looked down at the trembling man kneeling before him, then turned his gaze toward the thousands of citizens watching from the stands. The golden light surrounding his body slowly faded, but the majestic aura around him remained as strong as ever.

Caleb: Lower your weapons, everyone. The war is over.
