Child: Grandma, look! That's my mom's room at the end of the hallway!
Margarethe pushed open the heavy door to the hospital room, her heart pounding against her ribs as she saw her daughter lying pale and frail against the white sheets.
Sarah: Lily? Is that you, baby? I was so worried...
Child: Mom! I found her! I found the big gate like you said!
Sarah slowly turned her head toward the doorway, her breath catching as her eyes met her mother's tear-filled gaze for the first time in two decades.
Sarah: Mom...? Is it really you?
Margarethe: Oh, my sweet Sarah... My beautiful child...
Margarethe rushed to the bedside, dropping to her knees and wrapping her arms around her sick daughter, sobbing uncontrollably as twenty years of heartache washed away.
Sarah: I didn't steal the money, Mom... I swear I didn't! Richard tricked me into signing those legal documents!
Margarethe: I know, my darling. I know everything now. You don't have to explain anything to me ever again.
Sarah: I was so scared you would hate me forever...
Margarethe: I could never hate you. I was the fool for believing his twisted lies instead of trusting my own daughter.
Just then, the hospital room door burst open, and Richard strode inside with two police officers right behind him, looking furious and disheveled.
Richard: What is the meaning of this, Margarethe? My lawyers just told me you froze my accounts and filed a lawsuit against me!
Margarethe: It's over, Richard. The police are here because of the evidence my legal team uncovered from twenty years ago.
Richard: You can't prove anything! The contract she signed gave me full legal custody of the trust fund!
Officer: Richard Vance, you are under arrest for grand larceny, fraud, and illegal asset seizure. Step forward and keep your hands where we can see them.
Richard: Margarethe, listen to me! She's lying to you!
Margarethe: Get him out of my sight before I lose my temper completely.
The officers handcuffed Richard and dragged him down the hallway as he shouted desperate excuses that fell on deaf ears.
Margarethe turned back to her daughter and granddaughter, placing the golden blue-stone locket gently into Lily's small hands.
Margarethe: Our family is finally whole again, and nothing will ever break us apart again.
