The Price of Trust

The Broken Ring and the Forgotten Vow

Clara: Keep the ring, Mark.

Mark: Clara, please! Don't do this! I was manipulated! Evelyn planned the whole thing!

Clara: Evelyn set the trap, Mark. But you stepped in it with both feet, and you crushed me in the process.

Mark: I love you! Lily loves you!

Clara: You loved the idea of a wife who would stay quiet and take care of your home. But when things got scary, your first instinct was to hurt me and call me a thief.

Lily: Clara... are you leaving?

Clara knelt down on the floor, ignoring the sharp pain in her wrist. She gently stroked Lily’s head, smoothing down the soft hair that remained.

Clara: I have to go, sweetie. But you are a very brave girl, okay? You didn't do anything wrong.

Lily: Don't leave, please...

Clara: You keep being strong. Your dad needs to learn how to be brave like you.

Clara stood up and turned to her bridesmaid, who immediately grabbed Clara’s coat and purse from the closet.

Mark: You can't just walk away from us! We signed the mortgage papers for the new house! We built a life together!

Clara: My lawyer will contact your office on Monday regarding the joint accounts and the house deposit. I want my half of the down payment returned, nothing more, nothing less.

Mark: Clara, please, I am begging you!

Clara: If you ever grab my arm like that again, Mark, I won't just walk away. I will press charges for assault. Do you understand me?
