A Fall on Hardwood

The Husband Collapses After Pushing His Wife to the Floor

Mark shoved Sarah's hand away with a violent, reckless motion that sent her off balance.

Sarah lost her footing on the slick hardwood oak floor, gasping sharply as her heels slid out.

She stumbled backward into a wooden side table, knocking over a tall glass vase filled with dark cherry juice.

A loud thud echoed through the quiet living room as Sarah hit the floor hard on her back.

The glass shattered instantly, splashing dark liquid across the pristine oak wood floor around her motionless body.

Eleanor: Sarah! Oh my god, Sarah!

Arthur: What did you just do, Mark?

Mark stood frozen in place, staring down at his wife lying completely motionless near the spilled liquid.

Her eyes were closed tight, her breathing shallow as subtle freckles stood out against her pale skin.

Mark: I... I didn't mean to push her that hard.

Arthur: You fool! Look at what you have done to her!

Mark dropped to his knees on the hard floor beside her, his body trembling with sudden sheer panic.

He reached out his shaking hands, placing them gently near her shoulders to check for a pulse.

Mark: Hey! Wake up, please open your eyes!

Eleanor: Call an ambulance right now, Arthur! Hurry up!

Arthur rushed toward the kitchen counter to grab his phone with pale, trembling hands.

Mark: Sarah, please talk to me! I am so sorry!

Sarah remained completely still, her chest barely rising as silence descended over the bright living room.

Mark: What have I done? No, please!

He clutched his head in pure anguish, kneeling in the dark liquid staining the white trim wall baseboard.

Arthur: The emergency paramedics are on their way right now!

Eleanor: Don't touch her neck, Mark! You might hurt her worse!

Mark pressed his face into his hands, tears streaming down his face as heavy dread filled his heart.
