The Maid Who Cut the Wedding Cake

Marcus: Where is your sister now?

Elena: She's at the hospital in New York receiving treatment for second-degree burns. She called me two hours ago and told me I had to get this drive into your hands before you signed the marriage contract.

Marcus: She saved my life. You both did.

Within minutes, the heavy oak doors of the ballroom swung open. Three uniform police officers walked in, accompanied by two detectives from the Dallas financial crimes division.

Detective Carter: Mr. Vance? We received your call regarding financial fraud and evidence tampering.

Marcus: Detective, thank you for arriving so quickly. Everything you need is right here on this laptop and on this USB drive. Victoria Sterling embezzled millions from my father's estate and forged legal documents.

Victoria: It's all lies! This maid and her family are blackmailing us!

Detective Carter: Ms. Sterling, we actually received a warrant request from the NYPD early this morning regarding a bakery arson investigation in Queens. Your name was listed on their primary person-of-interest report.

Victoria went pale. She stopped screaming, her shoulders slumping in defeat as the reality of her situation hit her.

Detective Carter: Turn around, ma'am. Put your hands behind your back.

The officer stepped forward and placed heavy steel handcuffs around Victoria's wrists. The metallic click echoed sharply against the quiet marble walls.

Victoria: Marcus... please... don't let them take me away in a wedding dress!

Marcus: You chose this path, Victoria. You tried to build a life on stolen money and lies.

The officers escorted Victoria out of the grand ballroom. The remaining wedding guests gathered outside in the courtyard watched in shock as the bride was led away in handcuffs toward a waiting police cruiser.
