A New Beginning

The Maid Who Cut the Wedding Cake

Marcus: David, go downstairs and inform the guests that the wedding is canceled. Tell them the truth. No cover-ups.

David: Understood, Marcus. I'll handle the catering staff and the media reps right away.

Marcus walked over to Elena, looking closely at her bandaged arms and tired eyes. He felt a deep sense of gratitude and guilt for how she had been treated when she first cut the cake.

Marcus: Elena, I owe you an apology for grabbing your wrist earlier. I didn't know what was happening.

Elena: You don't have to apologize, Mr. Vance. You were protecting your home. I'm just glad you listened before it was too late.

Marcus: I am going to make sure your sister gets the best medical care available in New York. I will personally cover all of her hospital bills, rehabilitation costs, and lost wages.

Elena: Mr. Vance, you don't have to do that—

Marcus: I insisted. It's the absolute least I can do. And as for you, you will never have to work as a maid again unless you truly want to. My legal team will need your help to review these estate documents, and I want to pay you a proper consultant salary for your honesty.

Elena: Thank you, sir. My sister and I just wanted the truth to come out. Your father was a good man when he visited our bakery years ago.

Marcus looked at the ruined wedding cake sitting on the table. The white frosting was smeared, but beneath the surface lay the truth that saved his family's future and reclaimed his father's legacy.

Marcus: Today was supposed to be the biggest mistake of my life. Instead, thanks to your courage, it's the day my family finally got justice.

He smiled warmly at Elena, offering her his hand. Together, they walked out of the ballroom, ready to face the long road ahead with complete honesty and a clear conscience.
