Maria: Mr. Vance, please look! Look at the floor!
Julian stopped his approach, his breath heavy with rage, as Maria unrolled the blanket fully across the white marble. The heavy porcelain head of the doll rolled across the floor, stopping right at the tip of Julian’s leather shoe.
Julian: What is the meaning of this?
Maria: She threw this doll, sir! She threw it over the railing on purpose!
Victoria: She’s lying, Julian! She swapped the baby after she dropped her! She hid Lily somewhere in the house to hold her for ransom!
Maria: I would never touch baby Lily! I was cleaning the spindles when she called me over!
Victoria hurried down the grand staircase, her face painted with frantic emotion as she threw her arms around Julian's arm, pressing her face against his shoulder.
Victoria: Julian, look at my hands, I’m shaking! She tried to extort us! She knows about the family trust fund and the life insurance policy we just set up! She wanted money for her family!
Julian: Where is Lily right now, Victoria?
Victoria: She's upstairs in her crib, thank God! But this woman was going to kidnap her and stage an accident!
Maria: Mr. Vance, check the security cameras! The balcony camera points right at that spot!
Victoria’s face paled for a fraction of a second before she tightened her grip on her husband’s arm, glaring down at Maria with pure hatred.
Victoria: The camera in the hall has been offline since yesterday, and you know it, Maria! You unplugged it yourself when you were cleaning!
Maria: I never touched the cameras! I don't even know where the main control box is!
Julian: Silence! Both of you!
Julian pushed past Victoria and walked over to Maria, picking up the heavy porcelain head from the floor. His eyes were dark, filled with confusion and mounting fury.
Julian: Maria, you’ve been like family to us. If you touched my daughter or tried to frame my wife, you will spend the rest of your life in a state penitentiary.
