Within twenty minutes, two police cruisers pulled into the grand driveway of the Vance estate. Officers stepped into the foyer, taking detailed statements from Julian, Maria, and review of the home's primary security server—which Julian unlocked himself, revealing that Victoria had manually turned off the nursery feed while leaving the main hall recorded.
Officer: Mrs. Vance, you are under arrest for fraud, filing a false police report, and reckless endangerment.
Victoria: Julian, tell them to stop! You can't let them take me out in handcuffs in front of the neighbors!
Julian: You brought this on yourself, Victoria. I’m filing for divorce and full custody of Lily immediately.
As the officers led a weeping, screaming Victoria out the front oak doors, Julian turned to Maria, who was sitting on the bottom step holding an ice pack to her bruised shoulder.
Julian: Maria... I don't even know how to apologize for shouting at you. You risked your life today without a second thought.
Maria: I only cared about protecting the baby, Mr. Vance. That’s all that mattered to me.
Julian: You proved your character today. I want to offer you a permanent position as Lily's primary guardian and head of household management, with full medical benefits and a salary that will take care of your brother's treatments completely.
Maria: Mr. Vance... I... I don't know what to say. Thank you so much.
Julian: You saved my daughter, and you saved me from a nightmare. It’s the least I can do.
Maria wiped away a final tear, smiling through the pain as she watched baby Lily sleeping peacefully in Julian’s arms, knowing that truth and justice had finally prevailed in the house on the hill.
