Evelyn scrambled to her feet, her expensive hair extensions messy and her mascara running down her face in dark streaks.
Evelyn: If you call the police, Marcus, I will file for divorce today and take half of everything you own! The prenuptial agreement has a clause about public embarrassment!
Marcus: You think a prenup is going to protect you from child endangerment and murder conspiracy charges?!
Marcus stepped up to Evelyn, his dark eyes burning with fierce determination. When she reached out to grab his lapel to beg for mercy, Marcus swung his right hand around and delivered a sharp, echoing slap directly across her cheek.
The loud slap cracked through the marble hall. Evelyn stumbled backward, tripping over her own feet and crashing against the wall baseboard, her hand clutching her red, swollen cheek in complete shock.
Evelyn: You... You hit me!
Marcus: YOU'RE FINISHED! CALL 911 RIGHT NOW!
Marcus shouted at Elena, who immediately pulled out her cell phone from her maid apron pocket and began dialing emergency services.
Elena: I’m calling them right now, Mr. Sterling!
Evelyn: No! Don't call them! Please, Marcus!
Within ten minutes, three Dallas Police Department cruisers came tearing up the circular driveway, their red and blue lights flashing against the grand pillars of the mansion entrance. Four armed officers rushed into the foyer with their handguns unholstered.
Police Officer: Nobody move! Hands where we can see them!
Marcus: Officer, arrest that woman immediately! She kidnapped my son, declared him legally dead, and locked him behind drywall inside my house!
Evelyn: They are lying! It was the maid! The maid did it!
Police Officer: Ma'am, stay on the ground! Put your hands behind your back!
The lead officer stepped over the drywall debris on the floor, looking directly into the dark wall cavity before looking at little Leo, who was wrapped in his father's tuxedo jacket.
Police Officer: Good Lord... The child is covered in plaster dust. Get EMS in here right away to check his breathing!
The second officer pulled Evelyn's hands behind her back, snapping heavy steel handcuffs onto her wrists. Evelyn screamed and kicked her feet as she was lifted off the marble floor.
Evelyn: Marcus! Tell them to stop! You can't let them do this to me!
Marcus: You will spend the rest of your natural life in a state penitentiary, Evelyn. My attorneys will make sure you never see a single penny or a single day of freedom again.
Marcus turned away as the officers dragged the screaming woman out the front doors toward the waiting police cars.
Marcus: Elena... Come here, please.
Elena stepped forward nervously, wiping her dust-stained hands on her apron.
Elena: Yes, Mr. Sterling?
Marcus: You saved my boy's life. You took a sledgehammer to my home and risked your own life to pull him out of the dark.
Elena: I couldn't just stand there and do nothing, sir. Every child deserves to be saved.
Marcus: Starting today, you are no longer our maid. I am appointing you as the manager of our estate, with a salary four times what you make now, and full paid college tuition for whatever career you choose.
Leo: Thank you, Elena... You're my hero!
Leo wrapped his small arms around Elena's waist. Tears welled up in Elena's eyes as she hugged the boy tightly, knowing that the nightmare was finally over and justice had finally been served in the luxury villa.
