The polished marble floor of the Dallas mansion was cold beneath Clara's knees, but she barely felt it. She pulled her weeping newborn closer to her chest, her own tears blurring the sight of the grand hallway. Just moments ago, laughter had echoed off the white walls during what was supposed to be a peaceful family afternoon. Now, total chaos reigned in the foyer of her husband’s family home.
Clara: Please, Marcus! You have to listen to me! I would never hurt our baby!
Marcus: Get away from her! Just stay where you are, Clara!
Marcus rushed down the corridor, his eyes blazing with anger as he pushed past Clara to check on his cousin, Veronica. Clad in a striking green dress, Veronica stood near the tipped-over baby stroller, trembling dramatically while clutching her arm.
Veronica: She tried to push the stroller down the foyer steps, Marcus! I managed to grab it just in time, but she shoved me! She’s totally out of control!
Clara: That is a complete lie! She snatched the stroller herself and tried to frame me! Why would I endanger my own child?
Marcus: Stop lying, Clara! Veronica has been a guest in our home for two days, and all you’ve done is act paranoid. Look at her—she’s terrified!
Veronica: I was only trying to protect the baby! I swear it on my life!
Marcus kneeled beside Clara, his expression a mix of heartbreak and cold betrayal. He reached out to gently cradle her tear-stained face, though his touch felt distant and heavy.
Marcus: How could you do this? I thought I knew you, Clara. But after this... I can’t trust you around our child.
Clara: Marcus, please... look at me. Look into my eyes. You know I love our baby more than life itself.
Marcus: The evidence is right in front of me! Veronica saved her, and you’re still trying to blame her!
Before Clara could reply, twelve-year-old Lily stepped forward into the hallway. Holding a smartphone firmly in her small hands, she looked directly at her father with a steady, fearless gaze.
Lily: Dad, watch this right now.
