By six o'clock that evening, three black police cruisers and an unmarked detective car pulled up to the main gates of the Vance estate. Victoria sat in the front seat of Arthur's luxury sedan right behind them. The security guards at the gate, recognizing the police presence, immediately pressed the button to swing the iron gates open.
Arthur: Are you ready for this, Victoria?
Victoria: I've been waiting for this moment since the day my father died.
They parked along the circular driveway. Detective Thomas, a senior investigator from the Dallas Police Department, stepped out of his vehicle and adjusted his gold badge on his belt. Victoria and Arthur walked up the marble steps beside him.
Detective Thomas: Miss Vance, stay right behind me until I secure the premises.
Victoria: She's inside the dining room. I can hear music playing.
Detective Thomas knocked heavily on the massive oak doors. A few seconds later, Eleanor opened the door, wearing an expensive silk evening gown and holding a glass of champagne in her hand. Her smile instantly vanished when she saw police officers standing on her porch, flanked by Victoria and Arthur.
Eleanor: What is the meaning of this? Victoria, I told you that you were banned from this property!
Detective Thomas: Eleanor Vance? I am Detective Thomas with the Dallas Financial Crimes Unit.
Eleanor: Financial crimes? This is a private residential property! Get off my lawn before I call my legal representation!
Arthur: Your legal representation, Mr. Miller, was arrested twenty minutes ago at his law office, Eleanor.
Eleanor: What?! What are you talking about?!
Victoria: We found the safety deposit box, Eleanor. We found the real prenup, and we watched the video from October 12th.
Eleanor's face drained of all color. The champagne glass trembled in her hand, spilling sparkling wine over her silver silk dress.
Eleanor: Video? What video? That's impossible! The hospital rooms don't have security cameras!
Victoria: My father installed a hidden camera because he didn't trust you for a single second! We saw you grab his hand! We saw you force the pen onto the paper while he cried for me!
Eleanor: That video is a fake! It's an AI manipulation! I loved my husband!
Detective Thomas: Ma'am, we have a warrant signed by a state judge for your arrest on charges of grand larceny, forgery, and felony elder abuse.
Eleanor: You can't touch me! I am the legal owner of Vance Enterprises!
Detective Thomas: Turn around and place your hands behind your back, Mrs. Vance.
Two uniformed officers stepped forward, pulling Eleanor's arms behind her back and snapping cold steel handcuffs around her wrists. Eleanor began screaming, kicking her feet against the marble entryway as her friends came running out of the dining room in shock.
Eleanor: Victoria, you miserable brat! Undo this right now! You can't take my money!
Victoria: It was never your money, Eleanor. It was my mother's, it was my father's, and now it's mine.
Eleanor: I'll sue you! I'll take this to the Supreme Court!
Arthur: Under Section Nine of the original prenup, your arrest and fraudulent actions trigger complete forfeiture. You won't receive a single dollar from this estate, Eleanor. Not even a severance payout.
The officers escorted the screaming woman down the marble steps and loaded her into the back of the police cruiser. Victoria stood at the top of the grand entrance, watching the red and blue emergency lights flash against the tall glass windows of her family home.
Arthur: It's over, Victoria. The estate, the trust fund, and the company are completely secure in your hands now.
Victoria: It's not just about the money, Arthur. He can finally rest in peace knowing his legacy wasn't stolen.
Victoria looked up at the evening sky as the quiet settled back over the Dallas mansion. She felt a cool breeze brush against her face, feeling lighter and more peaceful than she had in months. She stepped back inside the house, closed the heavy mahogany doors, and took her rightful place as the head of the Vance family legacy.
