The bright light of the chapel illuminated hundreds of flowers and rows of elegant white chairs filled with prominent figures from across the state. At the front of the altar stood Chloe, dressed in a sweeping lace wedding gown, holding a bouquet of white orchids. Beside her stood the minister, who smiled warmly as Daniel walked in.
Chloe: "Daniel? What's going on? Why are you coming down the aisle with Lily now?"
Chloe held out her hand, offering a sweet, warm smile for the guests and cameras. She raised her voice, sounding like a loving motherly figure.
Chloe: "Come here, sweetheart! Come stand with Mommy and Daddy!"
The crowd let out an unified "Aww" at her affectionate tone. But Daniel didn't smile back. He walked up the center aisle with fast, heavy strides, holding Lily firmly by his side.
Daniel: "STOP THE WEDDING! I'M NOT MARRYING YOU!"
A collective gasp echoed across the vast chapel. The organist's hands froze over the keys, dropping the chapel into a sudden, tense silence. Chloe's warm smile instantly vanished, replaced by sheer shock and horror. She brought her lace-gloved hand to her mouth as guests started whispering frantically.
Chloe: "Daniel... what are you doing? Are you insane?"
Daniel: "I said, this wedding is over!"
Chloe: "Babe, please! You're making a huge mistake! Whatever is wrong, we can talk about it in private!"
Daniel: "There is nothing private about what you did to my daughter!"
Chloe's father, Richard, a wealthy real estate developer, stood up from the front row, his face red with anger as he pointed a finger at Daniel.
Richard: "Daniel! What is the meaning of this public humiliation? Sit down and let the minister finish!"
Daniel: "Sit down, Richard! Your daughter put her hands on my seven-year-old child!"
Chloe: "That's a complete lie! I didn't touch her!"
Daniel: "Oh really? Then explain these marks on her arm!"
Daniel lifted Lily up into his arms so the entire front row could see the distinct, bloody scratch marks running down her forearm. Several female guests gasped in shock, covering their mouths.
Chloe: "She... she fell! She was playing near the vanity table and scratched herself on the wooden edge!"
Lily: "No I didn't! You grabbed me because I touched your dress!"
Chloe: "Shut up, you little brat!"
The entire chapel went dead silent. The sweet, gentle facade Chloe had maintained for two years dissolved in an instant, exposing her sharp, vicious voice right in front of two hundred people.
