The Poison in the Mansion

A Cruel Stepmother Dropped a Baby Over the Railing, But the Maid Caught Her

Mark: Stay right there, Evelyn. Don't you dare move a single step.

Evelyn: Mark, darling, you're making a huge mistake. The maid is lying to you! She's hysterical!

Mark: I said don't move!

Mark rushed across the polished marble, dropping to his knees beside Elena. His hands trembled as he gently took Lily into his arms. The little girl clung to his shirt, her face red from crying.

Mark: Baby, are you okay? Are you hurt?

Elena: I caught her, sir. She didn't hit the floor. But she’s terrified.

Mark: Thank God for you, Elena. Thank God you were here.

Evelyn: This is absurd! Mark, she staged the whole thing! She wants money from our estate! She's been eyeing your fortune since the day she was hired!

Elena: That isn't true! I came here to work, not to play games with a innocent child's life!

Mark: Evelyn, I installed new motion-activated cameras in the foyer high ceiling yesterday. High definition. Direct cloud storage.

Evelyn froze on the balcony, the color draining completely from her face. Her sharp posture suddenly softened into panic.

Evelyn: What... what do you mean?

Mark: I mean every single frame of what you just did is saved on my phone right now.

Evelyn: Mark, please... let me explain. I lost my temper. The stress of the family trust fund, the mortgage paperwork, the lawsuit with the bank—it's getting to me!

Mark: You held my daughter over a twelve-foot drop!

Elena: She did it because I found the bank statements, Mr. Vance.

Mark: What bank statements?

Elena: In her study drawer yesterday while cleaning. She’s been draining your family accounts. Transferring money into offshore holdings before the divorce paper filings.

Evelyn: Shut up, you stupid girl! You have no right to look through my private documents!

Mark: Is this true, Evelyn? You were stealing from Lily’s inheritance?

Evelyn: It’s my money too! I married you! I deserve half of everything in this estate!

Mark: You don't deserve a single cent. Not after today.

Outside, the faint sound of police sirens began to echo down the quiet suburban street of the wealthy Dallas neighborhood. The sirens grew louder, bouncing off the pristine brick houses and trimmed hedges. Evelyn panicked, turning toward the hallway behind her.

Mark: Don't even try running. The whole property is fenced.

Evelyn: You can't do this to me! I am your wife!

Elena: You stopped being a mother the moment you raised that baby over the rail.

Mark: Elena, take Lily into the kitchen. Lock the door from the inside until the police get up here.

Elena: Yes, Mr. Vance. Come on, sweet girl, let's get you some milk.

Elena stood up, smoothing down her navy maid apron. She took Lily back into her arms, keeping her back turned to Evelyn as she moved quickly toward the rear of the mansion. The sirens screeched to a halt right in the driveway.
