Principal Harrison: What on earth is happening in here?! Mr. Miller, why are the police outside?!
Principal Harrison rushed into the classroom, his tie crooked, followed closely by two uniform Dallas police officers.
Officer Davis: Everyone stay where you are. Sir, put the phone down and step away from the teacher.
Mark: Officer, check my son's hand right now. Look at the swell lines on his skin.
The officer walked over, kneeling beside Mark and gently examining Leo's bruised fingers.
Officer Davis: That's a clear impact mark. How did this happen, son?
Leo: Teacher hit me with the big stick because I dropped my crayons...
Mrs. Vance: Officer, that man just assaulted me! He stormed into my classroom and struck me across the face! I want him arrested immediately!
Principal Harrison: Mark, if you put hands on a staff member, we have zero tolerance. You are in severe legal jeopardy here.
Mark: Is that right, Principal? Zero tolerance for me protecting my child, but total tolerance for child abuse in your school?
Principal Harrison: Mrs. Vance is an award-winning educator of fifteen years! She would never use physical punishment!
Mark: Oh, really? Officer, look at this screen.
Mark turned his phone around and pressed play on the live recording cached in the security app.
Officer Davis: Let me see that.
The two officers leaned in close. High-definition footage played clearly, showing Mrs. Vance lifting the wooden stick and forcefully striking Leo’s hand while he sat quietly at his desk.
Officer Davis: Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Vance: That... that camera is not authorized for classroom discipline monitoring!
Mark: You forgot who installed that system, didn't you? It records twenty-four-seven to a cloud server.
Officer Davis: Ma'am, keep your hands where we can see them. Officer Miller, bag that wooden ruler on the desk as evidence.
Mrs. Vance: You can't arrest me! It was just a minor correction!
Officer Davis: Ma'am, you are under arrest for felony injury to a child.
