The Reckoning On Marble

A Maid Saved His Crippled Son From A Wicked Plot

Ethan stepped directly into Victoria's personal space, towering over her trembling frame.

The bright midday daylight showed every crack in her heavy makeup, exposing the raw panic beneath.

Ethan: For six months, I watched my vibrant boy sit trapped in that motorized wheelchair.

Victoria: Ethan, please... we can talk about this in private. Send the servants away.

Ethan: I cried in my study every night thinking my boy would never run on the soccer field again!

Victoria: I was keeping him safe! Boys get reckless! If he ran, he could have reinjured himself!

Ethan: You kept him crippled so you could claim eighty million dollars from the family estate!

Victoria: That is a monstrous lie! You cannot prove anything in front of a judge!

Elena: I have the security camera feed from the kitchen, Mr. Vance.

Victoria whipped around, her mouth hanging open in sheer disbelief.

Victoria: The cameras in the kitchen were disabled during the remodel!

Elena: The ceiling cameras were disabled, yes. But I placed Toby's baby monitor on top of the refrigerator last week.

Elena: It records directly to my cell phone whenever motion is detected near the blender.

Ethan looked at Elena with profound gratitude, then turned his gaze back to Victoria.

Ethan: You poisoned my own flesh and blood!

The crack of Ethan's palm against Victoria's cheek was twice as loud as the slap she had given Elena.

The force sent Victoria spinning to the floor, her cocktail dress bunching around her knees as she hit the white tiles.

She clutched her red, stinging face, tears of humiliation finally cutting through her foundation.

Victoria: You hit me... you struck me in front of the help!

Ethan: I struck a monster who tried to rob my son of his entire childhood!

Victoria: Ethan, have mercy on me!

She crawled forward on her hands and knees, reaching desperately for the cuff of his dress pants.

Victoria: I made a terrible mistake! The financial pressure from my family’s debts was suffocating me!

Ethan: Don't you dare touch me with those hands.

Ethan kicked his leg back, breaking her grip as if she were a venomous snake.

Victoria: What about our marriage vows? You promised for better or for worse!

Ethan: Those vows died the very second you laced my son's glass with animal tranquilizers.

Outside the tall arched windows, the distant wail of sirens began to rise over the quiet gated neighborhood.

Victoria's head snapped up, her eyes wide with unadulterated horror.

Victoria: Who called them? Ethan, did you call the police?

Elena: I pressed the panic button behind the pantry door the moment she raised her hand against Toby.

Victoria: You ruined my entire life! You filthy, peasant maid, I will destroy you!

Victoria scrambled to get up, her nails bared like claws aimed straight for Elena's throat.

Before she could take a single stride, Ethan grabbed the collar of her designer dress with both hands.

He dragged her backward across the polished stone floor toward the towering entrance doors.

Victoria: Let go of me! Ethan, stop! You're hurting me!

Ethan: You are going straight to federal prison!
