A Slap In The Grand Foyer

A Maid Saved His Mother While His Wife Stole Her Life Savings

Elena: Stay strong, I am almost finished.

Victoria stepped right into Elena's space, her diamond rings catching the bright morning light.

Victoria: Get your filthy hands off my mother-in-law!

A loud, stinging crack echoed through the white marble hallway as Victoria's open hand slammed across Elena's cheek.

Elena gasped, stumbling back against the wall, clutching her burning face as tears sprang to her eyes.

Evelyn: Victoria! Stop it right now! Have you lost your mind?

Victoria: She was touching your medicine bag! I saw her looking through your prescription bottles!

Elena: I was only checking the expiration dates... like the hospice nurse asked me to do...

Victoria: You insolent servant, know your place!

Victoria shoved Elena's shoulder violently, sending the petite caregiver crashing hard onto the slick marble floor.

Elena hit the floor with a painful thud, her knees scraping the polished stone as she wept quietly.

Victoria: Pack your trash and get out of this mansion before I call the sheriff and report you for theft!

Evelyn: Don't you dare touch her! She has done nothing wrong!

Victoria: You don't have a say anymore, Evelyn. Ethan gave me total power over this household while he was away on business.

Elena: Please, ma'am... I have nowhere else to go right now, and Mrs. Vance needs her midday injection.

Victoria: That's not my problem. Maybe you should have thought about that before acting like you own this place.

Victoria reached down, grabbing Elena's uniform collar to drag her toward the entryway.

Victoria: Stand up and walk out that door yourself, or I will have security throw you onto the highway!

Elena: Please, stop hurting me! I'm begging you!

Evelyn: Someone help us! Ethan! Where are you?

Victoria: Ethan is three hundred miles away in Dallas closing a corporate merger. He won't be back for days, you old fool!

Victoria raised her hand again, ready to strike the crying maid across the mouth.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany double doors swung open with a deafening bang.

A tall man in a tailored black button-down shirt stood in the doorway, his eyes dark with rage.

Ethan: Don't you dare touch her!

Victoria froze mid-swing, her breath hitching in her throat as she lowered her arm in sheer panic.

Victoria: Ethan? What are you... why are you back so early?

Ethan did not answer her. He sprinted across the foyer, dropping down on both knees beside Elena.

Ethan: Elena, look at me. Are you hurt? Can you breathe?

Elena: I'm... I'm okay, Mr. Vance... my cheek just hurts...

Ethan gently helped her up from the floor, supporting her trembling arms as she struggled to stand.

Ethan: You don't have to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong.

Victoria took a quick step back, adjusting her designer dress with trembling hands, trying to force a sweet smile.

Victoria: Ethan, honey, thank God you're home. You don't understand what just happened here.

Ethan: I saw exactly what happened, Victoria. You just hit a defenseless woman inside my house.

Victoria: She was stealing! She was going through Evelyn's purse and jewelry box while you were gone!

Elena: That's a lie! I was giving Mrs. Vance her morning heart medication!

Victoria: Shut up! Don't listen to her, Ethan. She's a manipulative liar who wants to take advantage of our family!

Evelyn raised a shaking hand from her wheelchair, pointing her index finger straight at Victoria.

Evelyn: Ethan, she donated her own bone marrow to save me!
