Victoria: Security! Where is security?! Get this trash out of my wedding!
Marcus: Wait! Victoria, don't touch her!
Marcus broke away from Victoria’s grip and stepped off the floral platform, his leather shoes clicking loudly against the quiet room. The guests gasped as he walked briskly down the long white carpet toward the crying children.
Victoria: Marcus! If you step away from this altar, you are throwing away your position at the firm! Think about the family estate!
Marcus: I don't care about the firm right now, Victoria. Lily... is that really you?
Lily sank to her knees on the marble aisle, her arms shaking from the weight of her baby sister. Her voice cracked as Marcus dropped to his knees right in front of her.
Lily: They told us you died in the accident five years ago, Daddy. But I saw your picture on the news last night... wearing that fancy suit.
Marcus: Oh God... Lily. My sweet girl. I thought... they told me you both died in the hospital fire!
Lily: We didn't die! Stepmother took the money from your life insurance and dropped us off at a shelter in Austin!
A collective shockwave ran through the pews. Victoria marched down the aisle, her expensive wedding dress rustling loudly as her face twisted in pure rage.
Victoria: Marcus, this is obviously a scam! Some homeless child trying to extract money from a wealthy businessman on his wedding day! Call the police!
Marcus: Shut up, Victoria! Look at her eyes! She has my mother's eyes!
Lily: Daddy, baby Maya is sick. She hasn't eaten since yesterday. We ran away from the shelter when I saw your face on the billboard downtown.
Marcus: Maya? This baby... this is Maya?
Marcus gently took the tiny, crying toddler into his arms. The child buried her tear-stained face into his black tuxedo, clutching his jacket collar with small, cold fingers.
Victoria: This is insane! You are embarrassing me in front of the entire Dallas high society! Your father’s trust fund requires you to marry me today, Marcus!
Marcus: My father's trust fund means nothing if my daughters were abandoned in a shelter while I lived in luxury!
Lily: Stepmother Eleanor told us you left us because you didn't want us anymore. She said you traded us for money.
Marcus: Eleanor told you that? My ex-wife told you I was dead?!
Lily: She made us call her new husband Daddy, and then when the insurance money ran out, she left us at the state facility.
Marcus: I paid her two million dollars in our divorce settlement specifically to take care of you two when I was in a coma!
Marcus stood up, holding Maya tightly against his chest while grabbing Lily’s trembling hand with his other arm. He turned around to face Victoria, who looked furious enough to scream.
Victoria: You walk out that door with those orphans, Marcus, and my father will foreclose on your family estate by tomorrow morning!
Marcus: Foreclose it, Victoria. Take every single cent. The wedding is off.
Victoria: You're ruining everything over some brat!
Marcus: She is my daughter! And I should have been there five years ago!
Marcus turned his back on the altar, leading Lily down the aisle toward the exit while the guests erupted into massive chaos.
