A New Beginning

A Ruined Wedding and the Secret Daughter Left in the Dark

Lily: Daddy, is this really our new room?

Lily stood in the doorway of a bright, sunlit bedroom on the second floor of Marcus’s estate. Sunlight filtered through large glass windows, illuminating two polished wooden beds decorated with soft pink blankets and fresh flowers.

Marcus: It's your permanent room, Lily. Yours and Maya's. No more shelters, no more running away.

Lily: Is Eleanor ever coming back?

Marcus: No, sweetheart. Eleanor and Victoria are going to prison for a very long time. They can never hurt you or touch our family again.

Little Maya giggled as she sat on the plush rug, playing with a brand new plush bear Marcus had bought her on the way home from the courthouse.

Lawyer Jackson: Marcus, the judge just signed the final emergency custody and full parental restoration order. You are officially their sole legal guardian again.

Marcus: Thank you, Jackson. For everything.

Lawyer Jackson: What about the company? Arthur’s bankruptcy declaration liquidated his shares, which means you now own eighty percent of the firm outright.

Marcus: Rename the firm. I'm placing fifty percent of the corporate shares into a irrevocable trust fund for Lily and Maya today.

Lily: Daddy, can we go to the park today? Like we used to before the accident?

Marcus knelt down on the rug, wrapping his arms around both of his daughters and pulling them close to his chest. Tears of relief filled his eyes as he kissed the top of Lily's head.

Marcus: We can go anywhere you want, Lily. We have all the time in the world now.
