Blood Across The Foyer

Billionaire Fired His Bride After Finding Her Safe Secret

The word echoed through the vast hall like a gunshot.

Sarah: DNA match... to who?

Carter: To me, Sarah. You are my biological younger sister.

Sarah's knees buckled. She dropped back to the marble floor, hands covering her mouth as a quiet sob tore out of her throat.

Sarah: No... that's impossible. My adoptive parents told me my mother gave me up in Chicago...

Carter: Our mother didn't give you up. Our father's corrupt business partners had you taken from the hospital nursery when you were two days old to blackmail our family.

Evelyn: Stop feeding her fairy tales, Carter! She's playing you! She probably forged the blood samples to steal your inheritance!

Carter: Shut up, Evelyn! The blood draw was done right here under my direct supervision when Sarah took her mandatory employment physical.

Evelyn: Even if she is your sister, she has no legal right to this estate! The trust belongs to the primary heir!

Carter: You clearly never read the public record of my mother's estate.

Carter opened the manila folder and pulled out a crisp parchment page bearing a gold wax seal.

Carter: 'To my lost daughter, should she ever be found, I bequeath fifty percent of all Vance properties, the family jewelry collection, and the sole ownership of the upstate sanctuary.'

Sarah looked up through her tears, her voice barely a whisper.

Sarah: All these years... I worked three jobs just to pay for night school and medicine. I thought nobody ever wanted me.

Carter: Mom searched for you until her very last breath. She named the family foundation after you.

Evelyn: This is ridiculous! You are throwing away our high-society standing for a girl who smells like bleach and floor polish!

Carter walked toward Evelyn, his eyes burning with an icy fury that made her step back into the shadow of the staircase.

Carter: My sister earned every single dollar she owns with honest labor. You, on the other hand, stole from my vault to sell the necklace to an underground fence in Queens.

Evelyn: That's a lie! You don't have proof of that!

Carter: My security team tapped your personal cell phone the second you asked about the safe code. We have your audio recordings negotiating with the buyer.

Evelyn's jaw dropped. The arrogance vanished from her face, leaving behind pure, unadulterated terror.

Evelyn: Carter... please. You can't send me to jail. Think about what this will do to my reputation! My family's name will be ruined!

Carter: Your reputation meant nothing when you tried to send my sister to a state penitentiary for grand larceny.

Evelyn: I was desperate! The bank threatened to take our penthouse! My father had a heart attack last week because of the debt collector calls!

Carter: That doesn't give you the right to destroy an innocent life.

Sarah: Miss Evelyn... I brought you tea every single morning. When you had a migraine, I ran across town in the pouring rain to get your special medication. How could you hate me so much?

Evelyn: Because you were in the way! The moment Carter found you, half of his fortune was gone! I didn't spend three years pretending to love him just to share his wealth with a servant!

Carter's hand shot out, gripping Evelyn's arm before she could move.

Carter: Thank you for finally telling the truth.
