FABLE

A New Beginning

Left in the Freezing Ocean by the Father She Trusted

Ella: Mommy! You're back!

Clara: I told you I wouldn't be long, sweetie. How are you feeling?

Dr. Marcus: Her vitals are completely stable now, Clara. The hypothermia symptoms are gone, and her heart surgery is scheduled for early next week.

Clara: Thank you, Doctor. Thank you for taking such good care of her.

Clara sat on the edge of the hospital bed, pulling the warm cotton blanket up to Ella’s chin. The room was quiet, filled with the gentle hum of the heart monitor and the soft glow of the bedside lamp.

Ella: Is Daddy coming to the hospital?

Clara: No, baby. Daddy is gone for a very long time. He won't ever hurt us or leave us again.

Ella: Are we going back to the cold water?

Clara: Never again. We have a safe house now, surrounded by people who love us.

Captain Vance: Mind if I drop off some fresh flowers for the bravest girl on the coast?

Ella: Captain Vance! Look, I drew a picture of your big boat!

Captain Vance: That’s a fine ship, little lady. When you get out of this hospital, I’m going to let you steer the real wheel in the harbor.

Clara: You’ve done so much for us, Captain. I don't know how to repay you.

Captain Vance: Seeing this little girl smile is all the payment I need, Clara. The judge signed the protective order this afternoon. Raymond's legal team surrendered all claims to your family's estate.

Clara: It’s finally over, isn't it?

Captain Vance: It’s just beginning, Clara. A clean start for both of you.

Clara took her daughter’s warm hand in hers, feeling the steady, strong rhythm of her pulse. The dark waves were far behind them now, replaced by the calm promise of a bright, safe tomorrow.
