The Shadow of the Past

Locked Behind the Basement Door

Emily: She poisoned your father, David? Are you sure?

David: The autopsy report was suppressed! Look at the stamp on the bottom corner—'Confidential Legal Hold'!

Officer Miller: She bribed someone in the county coroner's office to bury the toxicology results.

David: All these years, I thought my father left his entire estate to her out of love... it was all stolen!

Emily: She kept these files as leverage... or maybe she was too arrogant to destroy them.

David: She used my father's money to build her legal defense network! She's been living off a crime for half a decade!

Officer Miller: This changes the entire nature of our investigation. This is now a capital murder case.

David: Find her, Officer. Please, find her before she hurts anyone else!

Officer Miller: Every highway patrol officer in three counties is looking for that red sedan, Mr. Vance. She won't get far.

Suddenly, the officer's shoulder radio crackled with static, and a loud, distorted voice came through the speaker.

Radio Dispatch: Unit 4, we have a location on the suspect vehicle. Vehicle crashed into a highway divider near Mile Marker 14.

Officer Miller: Is the suspect secured? Over.

Radio Dispatch: Suspect is conscious but trapped inside the vehicle. Medical units are on scene. Suspect is attempting to destroy documents.

David: She's trying to burn the evidence!

Officer Miller: Stay here with your family, Mr. Vance. I'm heading to the crash site immediately!

Emily: David, don't leave us. Please stay here.

David: I'm not going anywhere, Emily. I'm staying right here with you and Maya.

Maya: Daddy, is the bad lady gone forever?

David: Yes, sweetie. She's never coming back into this house again.

David wrapped his arms around his wife and daughter, holding them close as the cool breeze blew through the open front door. But deep down, he knew the legal nightmare was far from over.
