Ryan: Step back! I'm breaking this entire wall section down right now!
Jessica: Ryan, no! Don't do this! You're going to destroy everything!
Ryan: You locked a child in the walls, Jessica! You belong in a prison cell!
Jessica: I didn't lock her away out of cruelty! I had no choice!
Ryan: There is ALWAYS a choice! Move out of my way before I push you!
With a furious roar, Ryan drove his shoulder straight into the weakened drywall panel. The sheetrock shattered completely, snapping wooden studs and revealing a hidden void space stretching behind the hallway closets. As the dust settled onto the hardwood floor, a small figure huddled tightly in the dark interior cavity became visible.
Ryan: OH MY GOD!
Jessica: Ryan... please... let me explain the whole story before you react...
Ryan: Stay away from her! Don't you dare come any closer to this opening!
Inside the narrow, airless space sat a young girl, no older than seven years old. Her face was smudged heavy with dark gray soot and dry plaster dust, her hair matted and tangled around her shoulders. She wore faded, oversized clothes and held a worn yellow teddy bear tightly against her chest, surrounded by empty plastic snack wrappers and half-empty water bottles.
Ryan: Sweetheart... hey, look at me. It's okay. You're safe now. Come out of there.
Girl: Dad...?
Ryan: WHY DID SHE CALL ME THAT?!
Jessica: Ryan, please calm down... your blood pressure is rising...
Ryan: ANSWER ME, JESSICA! Why did this unknown child just call me Dad?!
Jessica: Because... because she remembers your voice from when she was tiny...
Ryan: What are you talking about?! I've never seen this child before in my life!
Jessica: Yes, you have... but you forgot... you forgot everything after your car crash seven years ago...
Ryan: My crash? What does my medical amnesia have to do with a child trapped in my walls?!
Jessica: She isn't a stranger, Ryan. She is your biological daughter from your first marriage.
Ryan stood frozen in place, his heart hammering against his ribs as his breath hitched in his throat. He stared down at the small child, who looked up at him with wide blue eyes filled with tears, clutching her stuffed bear to her stomach.
Ryan: My... my daughter? My first marriage? You told me I was single before I met you!
Jessica: I lied! I had to lie to protect your recovery and keep your trust fund intact!
Ryan: YOU LIED ABOUT MY ENTIRE LIFE?!
