Two police cruisers pulled up to the grand front driveway of the Dallas mansion, their lights flashing blue and red against the manicured hedges. Mark, Sarah's family lawyer, stepped out of his black sedan right behind them, briefcase in hand.
Officer Davis: Ma'am, we received a 911 call regarding a child endangerment incident. Who called this in?
Sarah: I did, Officer. My name is Sarah Miller. This woman, Victoria, pushed my two-year-old daughter into the deep end of the swimming pool!
Victoria: Officer, that is a complete lie! I was standing near the pool when the toddler slipped and fell in! I screamed for help, and the maid jumped in!
Officer Davis: Ma'am, calm down. We need to assess the child first. Where is the baby?
Sarah: She is inside with Maria, our maid, who pulled her out of the water. Maria saw the entire thing happen!
Officer Davis: Alright. My partner will check on the child and talk to the witness. Sir, who are you?
Mark: I am Mark Reynolds, attorney representing Sarah Miller and the family trust of Richard Miller. I am advising my client not to answer further questions without formal recording.
Victoria: This is ridiculous! Sarah came onto my property, accused me falsely, and then physically assaulted me! Look at my cheek!
Officer Davis looked closely at Victoria's red cheek, taking down notes on his digital pad. Sarah stood her ground, her fists clenched tightly at her sides.
Officer Davis: Did you slap her, Ms. Miller?
Sarah: Yes, I did. I slapped her after she stood by and watched my child drown without lifting a finger!
Victoria: See? She admits it! I want her arrested for assault and trespassing right now!
Mark: My client has legal joint custody of her daughter and full access rights to this property under the standing custody agreement. She was not trespassing.
At that moment, a sleek black luxury sedan pulled into the driveway. The driver's side door opened, and Richard Miller stepped out, looking pale and exhausted, holding a leather folder under his arm.
Richard: What on earth is going on here? Why are there police cars outside my home?
Victoria: Oh, Richard! Thank God you are home! Sarah came here, attacked me, and accused me of hurting Lily!
Sarah: Richard, listen to me! Victoria threw Lily into the pool! If Maria hadn't jumped in, our daughter would be dead!
Richard: What? Lily fell into the pool? Is she okay? Where is she?
Sarah: She didn't fall! Victoria pushed her!
Victoria: Richard, darling, she is lying to get custody back! I would never hurt a child! Ask Maria—she saw it was an accident!
Richard looked bewildered, his eyes darting between his emotional ex-wife and his weeping current wife. He stepped toward the house, his hands shaking slightly as he pulled out his phone.
Richard: I want to see the pool security footage right now. We have high-definition cameras covering every inch of that backyard.
Victoria: Richard, sweetheart, you don't need to stress your heart over this... let the police handle it.
Richard: No, Victoria. My daughter's life was at risk. I am checking the feeds immediately.
Sarah noticed a subtle shift in Victoria's body language. The confidence in Victoria's eyes faltered for a fraction of a second as Richard walked toward his home office on the ground floor.
Mark: Officer, we should accompany Mr. Miller to inspect the original video recording before any footage is altered or deleted.
Officer Davis: Agreed. Lead the way, Mr. Miller.
Victoria: Wait! You can't just go into our private security room without a warrant!
Sarah: What are you afraid of, Victoria? If you are innocent, the video will prove it.
